If you new to Motorhoming and have one of those bins. This is how to keep it open when prepping dinner.

I have a step/stool which had a small storage compartment with a lift up lid, I cut the bottom out of it and put the bin which had been in a drawer in it, works a treat and I now have more drawer space. This is the stool befor I modded it.

Is that where you (used) to keep the Fun business cards then, Minxy …….?;)

After a couple of those plastic door mounted bins broke I came across this bin. It's much stronger and much smarter but not much more expensive. I now have two mounted inside the door so that we can sort recycling 😇.
(The little overdoor hook is removable so that the metal frame can be screwed to the door)

The bin on our door is very useful for storing the dustpan and brush, bin bags, washing line pegs and a few other bits and bobs. Its totally impractical for use as a bin because its effectively at floor height when you're inside.

We don't use an actual bin....we just hang a small plastic bag on a hook by the kitchen: it gets dumped every day (so doesn't attract flies or smell) and takes up virtually no room.

why? Ours is there
That would be interesting to see. Your sliding door must be a long way off the the side of the van when it’s open to allow for the width of the bin.

We belong to the bin on the side of the kitchen unit next to the sliding door tendency. It's small and the liner needs emptying every other day. SWMBO is in charge of that.

In answer to the OP, our bin lid doesn't drop shut but if it did I would use Blu Tack to keep it open.

What a rubbish thread :)

I knock my door bin off almost everytime I get out of the hab door, PAIN !

SWMBO has a collapsible bag lined bin next to the sink - doesn't want to get the door one dirty....

Our door bin is for dog leads, poo bags etc. Very useful.
Any rubbish we wait till it's dark and scatter it around any caravan pitches :ROFLMAO:

Seriously we are of the hanging plastic bag school

I have a carrier bag on the headrest of the 2nd row seating! Works fine for me! 🤣🤣🤣

In our previous Globecar Campscout I put a Brabantia kitchen cupboard bin at the side of the steps up to the single beds

It's that model Brabantia that I have on the door of my Carthago. It's a sensible size unlike a lot of caravan shop ones.

Two bin solutions.

We have a small 6 litre caddy bin that fits behind the tap. Other than that we just hook a binliner on the door, or outside if the driveaway awning is up. I am looking to refine this a bit by getting a binbag holder with a lid, but can't find one big enough.
