Best Scooter weight wise for back of Motorhome? (1 Viewer)

Hi All,
Hoping you can help, We are after a Scooter for the back of our Motorhome that is good for two-up but is also light, We have a Scooter Rack fitted that takes up-to 130kgs, Have used a 50cc Kymco DJ50s 93kgs, But not very good for the two of us,(only used for nipping to the shops when we are parked up), I have now passed my Mod 2 bike test, (at the grand age of 64!), So can now take the wife on a bigger bike, Was looking at a Honda vision 110cc, weight 108kgs. But am sure there are other bikes out there that might be a better choice?. Would appreciate your knowledge on "MotorhomeFun" for advice on this issue, Thanks all in advance for your help. PS. I have done all the calculations for our Motorhome & the 130kgs is within our range.

We have a Suzuki Address which I think weighs in at 100kg. Looks very similar to the Honda Vision, but is a bit cheaper and lighter. Works well with two of us on it. We keep it in the garage of the motorhome.

I don't think there is much choice. All 125's are limited to 12.5 Hp so 108 kg sounds about optimum. There is a light weight Honda that is popular - just can't remember the model.

Another vote for the Suzuki Address. Admittedly we were going downhill and I was farting but we got 70mph out of it 2s up. I am astounded by it. 102 kgs. Doesn't fit into our garage without taking the top box off but if youre putting it on the back not a problem. One helmet fits in the top box one under the seat. 155 mpg. I m 13 and half stone and wife is about 10 I reckon. 0% interest for a brand new one over 4 years and only 2k and they are still a couple of hundred quid cheaper than the opposition. Whatever you decide DO NOT GO FOR CHINESE ONE which are generally a grand off the internet. Steer well clear of them

we also have the Honda vision 110 and find it a godsend for getting about, Two up with shopping it struggled a bit going up Porlock hill
but both me and management have lossed a bit of weight since then so would now take it in its stride,
highly recommended step through, very easy to ride and comfortable on a long trip,

Last time somebody said that to me about a minx it bit me.

Doesn't fit into our garage without taking the top box off but if you are putting it on the back not a problem.

We have to take both the mirrors and top box off to get ours into the garage, but that only takes a few seconds. Once in the garage we can just get the top box back on.

Luckily our garage takes the vision without removing any thing,
with the top box and storage under the seat you have bags of room for shopping and you can lock both helmets out of sight,

Mine must be slightly higher garage as no need for mirrors to come off. Quick release top box is literally a 1.5 second job and put it back on.

Honda SH 125i slightly over at 136kg but quite superb, you might not use its power but it's always safer to have in reserve.

Thanks for all your comments & help, To "Minxy Girl" we have a maxium of 130kgs but I would like to keep well below that for peace of mind,Thanks for your help. Am thinking a Suzuki Address gets our vote, Thanks- Peterc10 & Suavecarve, But I see the Honda vision is still up there?, , Anymore for anymore I wonder??LoL!

The Honda and Suzuki have a very similar spec, with the Honda being slightly heavier. I would have been OK with either but one of the things that clinched it was that I got a 5 months old ex-demonstrator Suzuki for £1,400 with 110 miles on the clock and a top box thrown in. I was looking at a 3 or 4 year old Honda for that price.

The other thing that clinched it was was that both had electric starts but the Suzuki also had a kick start. I think that may be useful because it will be standing unused for long periods and the battery may go flat.

Good points on the specs + sounds like you had a great deal on the Suzuki & the kick-start as you say is a handy extra because of the periods it won't be used.

Peugeot tweet 125cc can not praise it enough I think it's 108kg plenty of power for two adults big wheels we have taken ours all over Europe wouldn't be with out ours

For a 125cc! the Peugeot Tweet is a excellent low weight for a Motorhome, Thanks for your comment, We have now purchased a Suzuki Address 113cc & find it great for getting us about at a weight of 97kgs. But your 125cc obviously has more punch, Good choice, Wish I had seen the weight of the Peugeot Tweet, If I had, we would of probably gone for it.

We had 690kgs to play with on the rear axles otherwise I would have gone for a trailer, possibly a box trailer to keep bike clean and dry but to store extra gear too.,

We have Vespa GTS 300, if it's unstable it fits right in with our family dynamics!

I should have said in my youth I rode P200E's and many other variants of Mod type scooter, strangely never a Lambretta that i can recall.
