Since 2016, caravans before that, folding Caravan, tents before that
I need a new pair of Leisure batteries for our Rapido A Class. Current ones are 110Ah Gels and at least 5 years old
Where is the best place to get them and how much should I be paying? If I go for equivalent Lithiums would I have to change anything else and how much would they be?

I’m still on wet batteries and get mine from Halfrauds, which work out cheaper with the trade card.

I like em as it’s a no quibble guarantee and a straight swop at any of their outlets. I know most suppliers are the same but I never liked the thought of waiting for replacements if required, especially if purchased online.

More knowledgeable Funsters will be able to help I’m sure 👍🏻

Also, teaching you to suck eggs I’m sure and apologies if I am, but make sure you get the right size, terminal stylesand location of the + and - if required.

Battery megastore, 4 year warranty & free next day delivery (y)(y)

If you're serious about lithium, look at K&S advertising on fun, they say theirs are a straight swap.

Hello Chris

I’ve just plugged and played with KS Lithium batteries… switch profile on mains charger to Gel (don’t really use the mains charger anymore) and the MPPT is on Lithium profile. No idea what the B2B system is or set to as I can’t find it… haven’t looked too hard TBH. The BMS on the KS packs seems decent and takes care of your investment.

Good luck!

I am a bit surprised that Gels need replacing after only 5 years. I had one that lasted 15 years.
Our gels both failed in less than 3 years Excide marine and leisure on our Carthargo now on lithium but I did change all the chargers

Me too 8 to 10 years is quite normal, I have two that are 6 years old & one that is 5 years old, all performing like new apart from age related capacity loss.
If they have been hammered by using an inverter above the C5 rate that will shorten their life.

How do you change the MPPT settings, I have a victron 75/15 and will be installing a lithium battery tomorrow.

Fairly certain you need the Bluetooth dongle then you can do it via your phone.

And I am. :whatthe: The 4 x 80A Gels taken out last June were in pairs, with ages of 15 x years and 9 x years respectively.
They maintained their charge for a good while, before being sold on to another Funster for their solar project.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Ok I misidentified. Mine are not gel but wet, judging by the filler plugs. So first step may be to top up with distilled water ??

Not a fan of Eurocarparts for batteries, even with 40% off they are more expensive than other suppliers, I prefer battermegastore for online and Halfords if you want to go to a store.

Battery settings then choose lifep04 setting

I have finally replaced my leisure batteries like-for-like. Two Banner wet 100/110Ah which I bought from Tanya. Thanks for all advice received. Job went well, I’ll report back on their performance.
