Hello,

We are looking for campsites for kayaking from. We have good quality kayaks and are comfortable with being in the sea and moving water. We'd really like sites with somewhere to launch from (or near enough when carrying boats) to save having to move the motorhome.

Thank you for any suggestions.

This one is just down river of Hereford with Ross on Wye the other way, never stopped there myself (it's only about 10 miles from where I live) but have heard good reports from some who have.

Hi,
If you are going to North Wales anytime this place may suit your needs.
Not a campsite but you can stay overnight for £6 pppn.
Great location for Llangollen with an easy walk in town.

Hereford rowing club have a site right on the river as does Ross on Wye rowing club. We are stopping at the Hereford one on Friday night, I'll report back 👍

Been to Lucksale nice site, residents can use the on site canoe hire landing stage.
We’ve stayed at Pencelli in Wales the canal runs past the site.
Some sites have access to large lakes.
Pitchup.com has as one of their search options for sites near waterways.
Alternatively use google to find sites near waterways.
I presume you have British canoe union membership which gives you the licence to paddle on most rivers and canals. They have a section to find on 5he site to find places to paddle.
We use a few apps to find put in spots.
Paddle points.
Go paddling
The river app
To name a few.
Unfortunately you can’t assume you have the right to paddle on all waterways

I was kayaking on great western canal yesterday, from minnows site (launch out side site gate) just east of Tiverton, bit “weedy” but lovely paddle
Posted pis on pic of day last nite

C&MC New England Bay (or the parking area outside their gate!).
Half a dozen kayakers walking past every day.
There's also boat launching access on the site.

Loch Greshornish on Skye is a possible. https://www.campingandcaravanningcl...rtree/skye-camping-and-caravanning-club-site/

Also on Skye, Glen Brittle campsite.

Clachtoll near Lochinver. If you don't have dogs, Achmelvich in same area.

In Galloway, New England Bay. https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/club-...--galloway/new-england-bay-caravan-club-site/

Thumbs up for Hereford Rowing Club.

Hi there - the way this summer is going, any campsite in England will require a Kayak to get to the toilet block!

C&CC Devizes site is right beside the canal.

Lochore Meadows in Fife (with an aire - not moving water but good facilities)
Beadnell Bay in Northumberland (there is a club site there and a lovely bay to paddle in - some parts sheltered and some parts have good surf)
Loch Ken (a long tome since we were there but there are a couple of camping places or there were)
Little Loch Broom - campsite at Badrallach
Skye - club site CC&C at Flashader
Lots of places to wild camp in the Outer Hebrides with beach access but beware of the tides. Also contact local clubs who are very helpful. The Lochs area of Lewis is interesting but take a GPS with you if exploring.
Loch Sunart (out of midge season)
Like others have said Bala is great
as is Keswick and many other Lake District sites.

I'd love to do the Northern Reaches of the Lancaster Canal but haven't investigated sites nearby.
The Bungay Loop in East Anglia (Outney Meadow Site) might be too gentle for you :)

Lots of places in Ireland (Eire and Ulster) to paddle. I love Achill Island and Clew Bay plus good off road cycle route but that's just one suggestion and you really are spoilt for choice there.

If you’re tenting, watergate camping site just outside of looe, looks lovely as I’ve kayaked to it from the main looe carpark but never stayed there.
This is the west looe river, with no one on it, I’ve watched deer & seen kingfishers, v large fish in the river a hands breath away (sadly I’m not quick enough to get supper), no noise but very tidal & when you’ve had you’re fill of nature go out past the breakwater & put up on the beach for an icecream (but watch the seagulls as I’ve never finished one of mine!) or go around looe island.
There’s a site at millendreath (bay view farm) overlooking looe bay/island/beach etc but the hill back up after paddling will kill you off I though I was due a heart attack & I’m fairly fit.

Small Isles CL near Arisaig. The sea is literally just through a gate at the end of the CL. Distance to carry depends on whether the tide is in or not. Some very nice little islands and crystal clear water to paddle around. Breathtaking views.

Yes just been there few days ago! Now on Pennygown in Mull. Both have the sea/inlet but you would have to time the tide. While waiting for the ferry at Lochranza port Arran we saw the most amazing jelly fish and giant starfish I’ve ever seen. But best surprise was Calgary beach on Mull! You would definitely be able to kayak there - parking close by and it has toilets. (Donation required).

Funsters, lots of good stuff re Scottish paddling, I’ve put my two pennethworth in for areas around Plymouth, any bits in between that are close to sites & worth a meet up?
Thanks to Bikevanhappy for posting the link to the canoecampingclub, anyone going to join any of those?
Also, any of you use an inflatable when in the van which is what I use as my other one won’t fit in/on the van?
