Hi
Following on from my replacement radiator thread, when refilling the coolant system what is the best antifreeze to use?
I've always topped up with petronas paraflu red, but if I need a 50% mix to fill up from scratch I'd need about 5 litres of it and its not cheap!
Fiat Ducato 2.3, 2011, X250
Thanks
Paul

I think it should be the OAT organic antifreeze. Like fuel the right type will have to be manufactured to a specification so no real best one. As to the cost it doesn’t pay to scrimp as any engine issue down the line would be vastly more expensive to remedy.

Ethylene glycol based long life, antifreeze doesn’t loose it effectiveness but the corrosion inhibitors in them do,
so replace every five years regardless, again a small price to pay for long life and reliability of the engine,
