BC Motorhomes Ayr

It's always sad to loose reputable dealers. I respect them for closing down in a dignified manner rather than just going bust causing headache to many.
To many dealers just milk the business then go bankrupt. Take Camper NE as an example.

Decent dealer and don’t think he could just close up and go burst as he has around 10 car dealerships too, I bought my first car from him for £75 when he had a small yard selling bangers. He’s certainly done well for himself and built his good name.

I'm not overly surprised to hear they are to close.
I tried to buy a motorhome from them once, I even thought we had done a deal.
A bizarre experience when it appeared they didn't want to sell it after all.

It then sat on the forecourt for months.

They aren't listed as an exhibitor at the NEC - maybe too expensive and too far for them to go although they were there last year. I wonder if it is just one site they are closing?

We spoke to them at the Glasgow show a few years back and found the person we spoke to very ill informed and reluctant to find anyone else who could answer questions, but maybe we were just unlucky.

I know Parks bought the Fiat Professional garage behind from them .. I’ve not heard anything about the motorhome dealership though.

The car dealership in Workington has already closed, the dealership here in Stranraer has spoken to staff.

Just phoned Lorraine and she mentioned it was on border news the whole company is closing with loss of 200+ jobs, my niece works in Dumfries branch and just bought her first house 3 months ago.

That's a real shame for your niece Gerry, they've always had a decent name about them & not many can claim that.

I feel for her and her fellow staff, such a shame.

Took Toby for a walk this morning and as we just stay over the back of BC head office i thought i'd have a wee nosy.

They normally sell new Kia's, Suzuki, Jeep and Mazda, as of this morning the only new cars they have in their showroom are Mazda's and looks like all the rest have been removed. They also have a garage on Glasgow Rd selling Fiat and Mitsubishi and I've heard that is now sitting empty which might explain the reason for a few Mitsubishi pick-ups sitting at their head office.

Passed some of the workers going in this morning and have to say they didn't look enthusiastic and who can blame them.

I’m not surprised , bc Motorhome is in trouble, after visiting them , one year ago i wanted to price and order a new 85k Dethleffs , I couldn’t get a response to my emails then when I called they said couldn’t give me a price as the 2019 prices were not out yet , I emailed 2 other Dethleffs agents & within 2 days had prices back from both , I ordered it from Pullingers near in Essex (400 miles away) , 3 of my friends had similar problems & bought elsewhere , I was trying to buy from them as they were 20 miles down the road from me but they couldn’t even manage that

Also not surprised we were interested in buying a carthargo from them found them not very helpful had to go down south in the end

The owner was on TV tonight saying they will do their best to give all customers their money back by selling their stock, has anyone been past the motorhome place to see if its still open. I'll give them a phone tomorrow as they have a van i might be interested in making them an offer.

I passed there on Tuesday and the forecourt was still full, both the Motorhomes, and the car showroom next door.

Hardly a car left in our branch yesterday, finance house was on site repossessing.

I bought my Kia 4x4 of them only 2 years ago which has been an excellent trouble free car so with BC closing my next nearest Kia Dealership is Workington or Selkirk , a change of car is on the cards I think as I cannot be bothered to travel miles and as I've paid for my servicing up front in a service plan it would need to go to main Kia dealership

Might be worthwhile giving Kia a call as they may permit servicing at an approved (non-Kia) workshop given the closure of BC. There's a Hyundai dealership in Dumfries (Arnold Clark?) and they're basically the same cars with different bodyshells.

The Hyundai dealership is called Border Hyundai they are based on the same site as Toyota and Skoda but as far as I'm aware they're not part of Arnold Clark.

Border cars have now advertised a closing down sale and everything must go, I've tried to contact the Motorhome dealership with no joy. I called their head office today in Dumfries and as far as the guy who answered was aware they're still open, might pop up on the off chance.

I'll be back home tomorrow Gerry, and can call round to check if they are open.
I can go either later tomorrow or Monday to save you a wasted journey if you want.

Only if your passing Brendan, I’ve tried calling all day and no answer. Someone mentioned on FB the vans where there but gates locked, I’m going to pop in and see the owner on Monday and speak to him.

Well that ain't much use then if they're part of the same group!
Saw a Hyundai sign when we passed by a couple of weeks ago but probably mixed up with a different AC franchise on same road? Sorry.

Yes AC garage is just as you come into Dumfries and the Toyota/Skoda/Hyundai dealership is about 1/4 mile further towards town.
