My battery charger came with a separate lead that can be left in situ for quick connection .Can I use it attached to the positive and negative posts on the battery or should I connect same as in this picture.Thanks.

Great idea for those without solar panels --- either way will be fine.

All the earths are already connected to the body a foot away.

Not sure I understand this.
Why will this charger be good for those specifically without solar panels, if I may ask?
I don't have solar and am looking at increasing our hab battery capacity, so am curious.
Thanks
Iain.

Many people have only solar panels that charges the hab batteries. It helps to connect a separate battery charger to the starter battery inside the cab without having to expose that battery. Its far better to fit dual battery solar charger.
