Hi peeps,
Like it says....what's the most likely cause and how to remedy?
Pls presume thick as a plank in replies...if I need to clean something what does it look like?

Gas tap on ( external and internal ) ?Gas in bottle ?
If not used for a while it can take some time for the gas to start to come through. .

When it is starting up you should hear the clicking, then shortly followed by a sound of the gas flame slight pressure sound.
If no gas sound then it ain't getting any gas, if its igniting and then stopping and going to lockout, it could be the control unit or the thermocouple sensor that tells the controller its a lite.
I had same problem, in my case it was a replacement control unit.
But check all the basics first.

Faulty thermocouple....the little copper cylinder on a long thin copper tube which sits in the flame.
It's designed to shut off the gas if the flame goes out or, if it's faulty, it won't hold the gas valve open.

Same problem for me this weekend, I never turn the gas off, but the Tech that did the Hab check two weeks ago did, as I found out after a couple of hours of head scratching!

Thermocouple.....will try that thanks !

Now it's decided to start working....hmm !!

take the burner out and clean it, mine had about 2 teaspoons of what looked like rust flakes when i turned it upside down, and clean end of thermocouple at same time, make sure thermocouple and ignitor go back in same positions

Another consideration is the selector switch. If its an older fridge the contacts on the switch can become a poor contact and this can cause a situation where some times the gas won't stay a light.

Thank you all !
Love this forum.....

At the top of the flue pipe there will be an angled bit held on by a screw. Take the screw out (a bit fiddly) and remove the angled bit (exhaust ) you will then find a bit if wire bent over the vertical pipe. On the end is the baffle (a curly bit of twisted metal), pull it out, clean it and replace. If it was sooted up it would cause bad combustion and flame lockout. Replace all parts and dont forget the screw!
Hope you are sorted.
Sometimes it is best to carry a can of compressed air to clean the parts you cant get to. About a fiver on well known web sites.
Good luck.
Atb, Chris
