I’m about to install a victron Orion smart 12-12-30 isolated dc dc charger in my autotrail panel van. I already have a victron 500A smart shunt to which negative cables attach to the output side and only one cable from the input to the battery negative terminal. My question is should the negative output from the charger be wired to the shunt or directly to the battery. I am thinking to the shunt is correct because bypassing it would not give an accurate battery state when charging. The guy at the victron dealers who also made up my battery connecting leads said going directly to the leisure battery is fine. Tia

I'd say you are correct, exactly for the reason you have given.
