I'm a newbie
Hi, when i eventually get a motorhome, one thing we want to do is go to the alps skiing.
question : is it ok/ safe to use a drive away awning in cold snowy conditions and I'm assuming the likes of thule pull out awnings with front/ side panels wouldn't be up to the job ??
cheers

its all a matter of weight on the roof of the awning. snow after all is frozen water..;)

saggy roof strain on legs. as I recall when we lived in Germany there are such things as winter awnings. heavier duty.
would not use my wind out

as above
Not an awning but we used to keep a long brush stood up in the middle of our tent during the winter. If it snowed the roof wouldn’t sag and the snow would slide off rather than settle in the dip.

Not long enough!
If your on the alps, won't you be on hardstanding?
If so, how will you peg an awning down?

many many years! since I was a kid
we have a very old isabella caravan winter porch awning somewhere. Super heavyweight with reinforced steel poles. I would never trust a lightweight modern awning to survive a good snow fall or rain freezing the fabric causing it to split
