We found that awning carpet from awning suppliers can be very slippery
So I would go with the Morocco mats

B&Q have some on offer for patios, perfect for awning.

Make sure it's breathable if going over grass and hard-wearing if on hardstanding.
We have one of the Moroccan ones.
