Probably but it will be so big a change it would be staggeringly expensive. It will not be just gearbox, it will probably be a complete remap of the Ecu and other electronic sensors.

Does anyone know who could do it?
Not even sure a main dealer would tackle it.
It would need to be a specialist refurb place I would think and big bucks ££££:a if you can find anyone.

There is auto clutch… google it for more info but it is a mechanism that puts your clutch in when you move the gear knob.. sounds complicated but as always it’s a simple bit of engineering, cost around 1500-1800 .. I’ll try and find the link for the one I used

The Comfortmatic mechanism sits on the pretty much regular gearbox so a conversion would probably be possible, although you'd need lots of other electrical things to get it working

Yes, mechanically the Comfortmatic is very similar to the manual box. Just some extra servos to do the arm and leg work for you. But I bet there's quite a few sensors, several control modules and quite a lot of ECU re-coding to do.

Just wondering is it possible to convert from a Comformatic Gearbox to a 6 Speed Manual.
As I understand it the actual Gearbox and Clutch arrangement are from a Manual arrangement with the Gear selection and Clutch operation being operated by a computer.
Would be interested to know if possible, or if possible the cost would not warrant the work involved.
I am sure someone must have done this at some time in the past.

In reply to NRC
I couldn't say for certain but I can't see why not.
It would probably involve having the ECU rewritten to delete the gearbox ECU to prevent fault codes.
alterations to clutch operating mechanism and manual gear selector.

Anything can be done with money, but back in the real world, an Autoclutch is the way to go as has been mentioned before.

Considered swapping manual gearbox on our van for an automatic - but it was completely impractical.

Eventually, we came to the somewhat reluctant decision to change the van.

No regrets now and after five years still very happy with the comfortmatic gearbox. (y)

If you only have an automatic licence, an autoclutch leaves the vehicle a manual, but with an electric servo controlled clutch

But presumably you would have a license for a manual if you already owned it unless being restricted for medical reasons

Thanks for replies.
I imagine that given that the Comformatic Gearbox was offered across the Fiat Ducato range of Vehicles (Vans and Motorhomes) for many years someone or some company out there probably has modified the fitted optional Comformatic arrangement back to a standard 6 speed manual.
Would be interested to know if any have.

I doubt it. Why would there be enough market to develop such a value reducing conversion?
