We will be arriving in Dieppe probably in the early hours (September) when we try out the Newhaven ferry.
Have seen a cople of aires on campercontact but they are around 12 Euros only intending staying till a reasonable time, is there anywhere else nearby
Editted cos I couldn't remember where we were going from

You can park up in the parking area at the port. We did when we used the Newhaven ferry. The aires are OK but do get packed out particularly the one near the beach.

There last week. Tight at best at beach Aire - stick to the port as advised.

Thanks for that, we stayed at the port at Dunkirk, so am assuming it is similar. just need a few hours before we set off on our travels. It's a long drive from hull to Newhaven, I'ld like to set off the day before but John is not so keen, will have to get persuasive.

Whatever happens try to avoid saying when landing "We're in Dieppe sh*t" or one of the many other similar puns available using the word Dieppe. :)

On a more vaguely useful note the wierd hours of that ferry were what put me off using it.

Is the parking area obvious when you come off the ferry?
We will be there in a few weeks.
Thanks

Drive out the exit and round the roundabout, you can then go to the parking area by the office marked in blue or take the next exit to the port entrance, marked in green.
Dieppe is very quiet the port entrance is the best option.

What weird hours?
Winter sailings 9 am out, summer 10 am, perfect when you live 20 miles away.
Return either 17:30 or 18:30, home by late evening.

From memory it was the return which put me off, getting in very late. Ok if you live nearby like you. :)

We arrived at that aire early last September about 22.30, followed by a cavalcade of other motorhomes.

We couldn't get the barrier to raise, ended up with a pushy french woman telling us to reverse out to let her get to the front of the queue and she would get the barrier open, which we politely refused.

After about 30 minutes every one had reversed and driven off and we were just about to follow when a car drove out the exit and the entrance barrier rose.

We drove in but were rather gobsmacked to find at least 10 empty pitches plus a fair few with tables/chairs etc on the pitch next to their vans.

Totally puzzled as to why the barrier control was saying full? We originally thought it was a time related thing but couldn't be if it let us in.

Seemed a strange aire as well, some vans looked like they were long-terming, and people were popping in and out of vans and wandering the site until we'll into the early hours.

Won't go back to that one, if it's Dieppe in future it will be an early sailing.
