Hello all
Just to let you know, parking at appledor car park is now very limited, you cannot park along sea view side, if you van is longer than a parking bay you will have to pay for two bays. There are only to spots which will take a overhang, one being taken by a permit holder.
but the crunch is daytime parking has gone up from £3 a day to £6
And overnight parking has gone up from £6 to £15. Just letting you all know.
P. S. Biddeford £8 night £3.50 all day.

Not very helpful from Torridge Council, they were doing quite well allowing reasonably priced overnight parking at three locations, the ones you mentioned, plus Westward Ho!

(Pretty impressively, you managed to spell the names of both places wrong! 😂🤣)

That's market forces for you. Prices quoted are hardly going to break the bank and why shouldn't cash strapped councils seek to improve their income when they are having to respond to huge increases in visitor numbers?

I think £15 to overnight in a public car park is a bit steep tbf!

Well, there's always the choice of not doing it. I am a relative newbie to motor-homing, having been a yachtie for many years before that. One reason for giving upon the sailing was that it was becoming increasingly difficult to find somewhere to tie up or anchor and prices were increasing to silly levels, both for the overnight stays and for storing your vessel between times.

Personally I think motor-homing is heading in the same direction as the numbers on the road increase and the so called "staycation" becomes the new norm. In a few years, £15 might be looked back on as a bargain.

I won't need to as I live about 6 or 7 miles from all three!

But this is exactly why most of our motorhome time is spent in Europe, the French know how to do it...oh, and they brought us Spiral as well! 😂

That’s a shame, I loved our sea side spot last June. If you have to pay for 2 bays does that apply overnight i.e £30? That is a bit steep!

Might be a good idea to read rule 1 of forum rules please🤔

The sea view side was brilliant, nice little village
Appledore is a nice village. We call it the dark side, as it is on the opposite side of the river to Instow, which seems gets the sun all day!

The Bideford car park is also alongside the river, and Westward Ho! very near the sea front.

The area is certainly well worth a visit.

Disclosure: I am biased, we live in North Devon!
