Taking to Ksebruce this week, we were chatting about new PC's etc, and Ken mentioned that the current lot of apple PC's now run on Intel and what appears to be standard PC kit..

So the question has to be asked, if the machines are based on the same hardware, why don't people run the Apple OS on a top end PC?

I think it is because the motherboards in most pc's aren't compatible with OSX. There are a few that you can install it on, but I think you need some specialist knowledge to get it running efficiently.

Surely if you wanted a top end pc you wouldn't even consider osx it..
Maybe a lower end pc.. But why?
I am a little biased though as I really don't have any time for any of the Apple products.. I find them a little too limited.

Pretty tho.. Aint they

and the opposite view from me is
i moved away from microsoft based kit
on account of not a tech savvy puter user
and apple does what i need without
a great deal of input from me
saying that i dontt have a high use for technologies
photos onto cd
emails saved online
banking
and surfing

i use a calendar attached to a nail for appts
and anything i forget i get a jab in the ribs from swmbo

when i was using microsoft based kit
igot extremly cheesed with constant updates
wouldnt shut down when i required
so i ended up crashing it

my mac is now 3 years old just installed the
latest operating system maverics( a free download)
and my i pad and i phone are easily integrated
so they all three work for me
and i think it may be a while before i need to upgrade
either of the three

but a m/soft pc/ laptop i would of changed three times
and a phone 5-6 times
back on track answer below
as for delving into the guts of a pc or mac
tis what shops are for :thumb:

Several Utube items on building a hackintosh on items hardware.
One of the best sites for info and patches etc is:

Advice on what hardware is comparable etc.

When looking at Macs I managed to install OSX as a virtual machine on a win 7 PC using virtual box.

Wissel and Serendipitous beat me to it. You are looking for a Hackintosh.
