I am looking for a particular door lock for my motorhome and think I have found one in Camp Europe somewhere in Chester according to the telephone STD code 01244.
Does anyone know this company or had experience buying from them? They seem to have some very odd buying conditions and if you get your order wrong it seems there is a penalty!

I would be pleased to hear from anyone that may have dealt with them or could find the location of their premises. Judging by the ammount of stock they advertise it must be a huge concern.

The door lock I need is priced at £ 140 so I need to get it right first time and it seems they don't accept telephone calls!

No experience in buying from them but

Quick google suggests 43 White Friers, Chester. So only an office, which may explain why they have a penalty on incorrect ordering. They may be ordering back to back from their supplier without holding any stock.
Not a friendly website using fonts that are difficult to decipher
Gmail account and website hosted by another so no domain name?

However if you study the text it suggests that you send a pic of the item, motorhome model and type along with the chassis number they will quote.

Their business address is 43 White Friars, which is in a narrow cobbled street in the city centre and is most definitely not a warehouse full of caravan parts, however, that may just be their admin office.

I see what you mean about their , poorly displayed in multiple fonts and colours - whenever I see that sort of nonsense online I tend to give it a miss. Is there not an eBay supplier for the part who'll offer you free postage and free returns?

Thanks both,
I have looked on E Bay and have had one response from a dealer to whom I have sent pictures. The lock apparently is a Ci origin and hard to come by. If I can't find one I could be in the smelly stuff pretty soon as the lock on my habitation door is starting to fail.

As far as I can see some of their terms and conditions contravene the distance selling regulations under which you can return anything within 14 days without penalty (and without giving any reason for doing so). And I believe Paypal wouldn't be too happy at the excess for using its services either.

Thank you Tonyidle perhaps a word to the wise would be in order and a warning to all.

Have you tried O'Learys? Also a call to Chester Trading standards may highlight any problems.

And, for what it's worth, within spitting distance of the Chester meet on the racecourse.

Blimey, that's an impressive spitting range you have there hilldweller. Do you have contests at the meet?

Joking aside though, it is close by.

Have not read all the answers but yes we have bought things from them as they were the only place we could get them from, it is only seven mile from were we live, BUT no you can't call and collect, it does not work like that I think he has built a large network of contacts up sources the part and it is dispatched to you direct I think, BUT the man who runs it has no customer relation skills whatever try and talk to him more than once you would think it was a cardinal sin.

If it is the only way you can get your part do it through the internet, not worth the hassle with him of suggesting any other way.

It sounds like he doesn't deserve any custom. If he can find the parts then so can you or me and cut the nasty bugger out altogether.

Just had a read through, a bit of background information , the guy who set it up was retired got bored and started selling motorhome parts built a very large network up but I would think now in his 70's stressed out not good at delegation not that computer savvy, but nevertheless this parts system does work and he did get our parts to us, even though it's only up the road and we were not allowed to collect them.

why not post a pic and give details of how the lock is failing, I may be able to fix it

This is the offending lock believed to be of the Ci type fitted to my Rimor.

I am reliably told that due to the number of very small springs inside it is very difficult to get back together once opened.

Outside lock Broken Link Removed
also available in black from same supplier

inside lock Broken Link Removed

I'd prefer to buy from this supplier, at least you have comeback through Ebay and Paypal

Thanks paulmold but they are not the same. The fixings are different and I don't think they could be adapted.

I agree about the ebay/paypal comment though.

Do you have the part number for the lock? if so put the number on google and see what turns up.
Worth a try, Cheers, Dave(y)

When the spring broke on mine (Autocruise Starspirit) I couldn't locate a new spring. I ordered some piano wire and fabricated a spring. They aren't that bad to take apart.
The lock is very similar to yours. Almost identical.

Thank you Taran_Las I'm pleased it worked for you. Sadly my fingers are no longer nimble enough for such dextrous operations.
