yep i agree with above, 1 step at a time.
1, is there mains into the van?
no...... check mains consumer unit,...... check ehu is plugged firmly into van...... check back at ehu post has not tripped .......... check ehu cable and socket wiring.

yes..... check sockets are working, if yes .... there is usually a main fridge fuse find it and check it.

so no EHU coming into van. so no 240v socket working.

so at least you know to trace back from the ehu consumer unit in the van to the ehu post.

sounds as if it was an external power loss that affected you. assuming all was working at that plug in and it suddenly happened.

We get occasional fat finger problems on our fridge - on the fridge controls is the A option selected. I have been known to catch the battery icon and everything gets warm?

Suggest that you check the hookup post.
If there is a button press switch next to where you plug in, is necessary to turn the plug after you have pushed it in to make a connection. The button needs to be pressed to release the plug when you unhook.

Thank you everyone- we have plugged it in to several other ehu posts to no avail .. wondering if our ehu lead has suddenly died - it is v old . Sarah has gone to ask at reception if they have a spare one . Meanwhile I am attempting to dismantle the lead that goes into the van - does it just pull apart ? In hope the wires may have come loose from that. We have gas and solar so not yet a full blown disaster ....

If it's the normal blue plug and sockets, they sometimes have a couple of screws that clamp the two halves together, or have a couple of screws that you access end on, where the pins are.

If something similar to this is on the post your plugged into the switch needs to be up. Don’t worry about the button, it’s to test the RCD. It would help if there’s any Brits or English speakers to see if you can borrow a lead from them to test, yours might be faulty.
Good luck 👍

And the newer ones these two screws. All will be clearer when you can see the wires.

Eek.. Paul I think ours is older than the ‘ older one’ might invest in new one. Tomorrow. Ours has a screw hinge thing holding the top n bottom together then it turned but did not come apart. Hastily re fixed it- maybe .

I would recommend you get a plug tester, there not mega money so you can plug it into your van socket.
This will check your supply and depending on which one you get whether the polarity is correct also.

Agreed, a socket tester is easy to use and cheap to buy.

Also useful is an adaptor from Blue plug to 13A UK socket. You can plug it into the hookup post and test with a socket tester. You can plug into the end of your hookup cable to test the cable is OK. With the socket tester and adaptor you can quickly home in on where the fault is

Edit: Sorry, pointless advice, these two things are impossible to buy outside the UK.

But good advice for the tool kit before you go!
