I don’t even fancy a diesel pop top😉🤣🤣
I do confess to being a bit dim at times but why would you have a pop top? Surely they’re no warmer than a tent?

On that point we agree … can’t see them being great in Scottish climate!

I don't think this is aimed at Scotland. The solar panels are the clue :p

PS: I believe this is a student project.

The aim was to make a totally self sufficient vehicle with regarding to driving.

Certainly a better Idea than any plug-in battery car.

Certainly better than my dpf diesel!

Cheers James

Didn't have any problems with our Hymer van with poptop this year in Scotland.
Will also be in the Lake district in late October so expecting low temperatures and rain!
Only problems I've ever had is in gale force winds where it can get a bit hairy but other than that all ok.
A decent heater helps, failing that Hymer sell an insulated inner roof liner and heated electric blanket although we have neither.
PVC with poptops in my mind appeal to a different type of owner, different wants and needs to the fully fledged 'Great White' owner.
Perhaps happier with a more simplified way of touring or possibly wanting more space for kids who find poptops incredibly exciting.
Everyone's different, personally l can not see the need for tv's, hair straighteners or hair dryer, alrhough i must admit a nice coffee machine wouldn't go amiss.

We have PVC too (no inverter or tv etc) but one of our worries with a pop top, living in Scotland, was drying it out … I have my son’s tent spread out over the banisters just now after he was camping at the weekend … I think we’d struggle with drying out the canvas …

Might have a bit of trouble getting the camper through your front door! :giggle:

These students are the future innovators and what a great start they’ve made. Still would have like to see a more equal balance between the male and females on the team (it looks like only a quarter are female). If it passes anywhere near us we will certainly make the effort to go and have a look.
