So, did anyone actually place an order for a new van at the show?
We went on Tuesday, and didn’t see many people sat with the salespeople on the stands filling out order forms etc.
We bought a new van, but went up to Leeds to see Consort prior to the show as they weren’t going.
Have to say, didn’t see anything that came close to what we’ve ordered, (pvc size) for value and quality of fit and finish.

Didn’t buy but went up on Friday and really liked the Malibu pvc’s. All of the sales team and tables were full. Business looked good

Buy now get it in 12 months plus if your lucky!!! Just wonder if that is part of the reps sales pitch!

There today and so very few sitting with salespeople.

Was interesting to see the new coachman vans. But at £105000 to £109000 thought wow that’s expensive. Wasn’t that impressed inside them for that money neither. Well apart from the cab seats. Though way out of my price range anyway even if I did like them.

Thing that annoyed more than anything else were the many ignorant morons that ignored the request for only one family group in a van at a time and despite people patiently queuing thought themselves more important and just barged into vans.

Thought vanners were nice respectful people. Not today’s they weren’t though

With most of 2022 models sold out there was very little to buy anywhere. I noticed a few sold vans at the show with cordonned off access.

Many prices on display were the 2023 prices. Most probably as the 2022 allocation were sold.

Still it was good to have a look around. For us is was mainly about checking out a couple of different layout styles. So a very worthwhile visit.

Maybe they were just the 'jealous mob' having a look at what they are missing by not having one.

Yup. With overheads to cover and not enough physical vans available to sell, I do hope none are giving unrealistic delivery dates just to secure sales and £5k deposits.

Went Wednesday. Rammed, so quite unpleasant getting around, and little regard for single families only inside vans. Glad we went though. Realised that what we've got (bailey 79-4T) is quite good after all, unless we wanted to chip in another £50/75k, which we aren't.

Watched the TV show version, no crowds and could sit sipping a glass of vino in peace and quiet.
Having said that, why do TV presenters seem to think the 'only' campervans anyone ever wants are V-Dubs !!

Went yesterday, was busy up to around 2.30ish then started getting less busy, by 5.30 there was hardly anyone there. We bought a quest4 pro and treated Mrs Westy to an OMNIA cooking system for her birthday. If I was buying I’d have bought a Carthago liner for two, but I don’t have that kind of dosh. But by god have motorhome prices gone up, especially the Frankias🤯🤯

We thought that WESTY66 . Really liked one of the frankia’s, then came out and looked at the price tag….£184k
Needless to say we scurried off

Went yesterday, very busy and van prices seemed eyewatering expensive to me, but the shiny bling had plenty ooh and aah ing.
I was tempted by one of those shower taps with the ceramic beads in, but didn't buy in the end so came away with wallet intact 👍
Oh, hardly a face mask in sight.

I watched one program yesterday and just thought it was pathetic, testing gas Bbq in the rain and outdoor chairs , looked bloody freezing . The typical smug presenters saying everything was fantastic , utter bollox.( in my opinion)

Spill the beans then, what have you bought and when will you get it? :giggle:

My van on order with expensive upgrades has gone up 12k and might even be more if it arrives later this year after the Sept 2022 price increase. It would be tempting for the Dealer to weasel out of deals, claiming they can't fulfill returning deposits and re sell on with greatly increased profits per van!
Just saying!

It depends who's raised the price though, if it's the manufacturer the dealer won't see much difference and could lose a sale completely not to mention the bad press they'd get.

You should have bought one, they’re very good. I was their biggest sceptic till I relented and bought Mrs Westy one and tried it, very good and we kinda measure the water use and it did save a little! Oh and yes Mrs Westy insisted on the little flavours that go in the shower head, zesty ones for early morning showers, lavender ones for sleepy time🙄

Cheaper than a bottle of Old Spice then

We placed a deposit down on a Consort, the Oslo, which is their 6.36 Rear lounge.
There was a van in the system, which is due to be built at Fiat in March, so hopefully if everything goes to plan, and they get the van in say early May, with a six week build, then hopefully end of June may be realistic👍
The build quality and thought put into their vans is second to none. Am very excited👍

Very exciting, keep us posted. Out of interest, is there much difference to the Vantage Neo (other than a saving in price)?

VW have allegedly stopped supplying many of their bulk customers direct (according to two I've spoken to, who regularly build on VW base vehicles, and who are having difficulty getting any now), and are shipping stock to their main dealers only. This means that converters are having to buy from the dealers, rather than direct from the manufacturers, which adds a not inconsiderable amount onto the base vehicle cost to the converter, before they've even got the vehicle on site to convert it. Some converters have formally complained to VW about this, but we wait to see what the result will be. I don't know if this is just while the 'chip shortage' is making things difficult, or if it's an expected ongoing policy. Meanwhile, that single decision by VW will automatically be pushing up the prices of new VW-based campers by several thousand pounds each. If you factor in a base vehicle costing over £40k, plus £5k+ for the roof (if it's an SCA one), and £3k for a RIB bed, you're already approaching 50K before any other fit out elements like electrics, gas, furniture, so it's not surprising to see so many VW campers at the upper £60k range, where previously only the very top of the range with every bell and whistle van would above £50k.

We went on Friday and took the plunge switching from a Swift Celebrate Super QEB to an Elddis Chatsworth 185 for delivery Sept/October as we start to plan for retirement and move to motorhoming. Because of our longstanding relationship with Glossop Caravans they helped us get the van at the pre price increase by switching a cancelled order for a 150 switched to the 185 for us. Only £1500 deposit, again i imagine because of relationship, with excellent Part ex.

How Much!
All our vans have been new factory order only ever put down a £1k deposit.

We were there on Friday and bought there Deffleths Eurostyle 7057 DBL. Went back and forth between that and Adria until a nice salesman from Preston informed us there weren't any Adria Corals left so decision made back to lowdhams for the Deffleths. Trade in deal not to bad but have option of selling privately as well. Delivery date this May which I thought was a bit quick considering it's a Fiat chassis so we'll see.

Sounds like they've got some on pre-order which will be arriving in a month or two, not unusual for popular models.

If delivery dates are vital to you make them a 'Condition of the Contract.

That will concentrate the minds, because if they are not met the seller has to pay compensation or you can reject the goods as not complying to a condition.

I suspect that at the moment no dealer in UK would sign a contract like that.
