Looks like this would be a nice place to have a stroll around, but I do not know where is other than it's in France somewhere.

If you like beef I can recommend this restaurant, walking distance from the hospice.

Ooh, we visited the Hospices last year, on our French trip. They're well worth a visit, as was Beaune itself. The Motorhome aire in town was perfect, a short walk from the town centre.

To satisfy my curiosity, where did you come across the picture with no information ?

Nice place to visit. Aire in the centre of town approx 6 Euro a night Supermarket almost next door. Tourist information office approx 300 metres away. But, just 10 minutes drive away is this.

I forgot to mention that Chateau Savigny les Beaune allows free overnight parking if you go to the museum. There are no services though.

Yes, definitely the “Hotel Dieu “, otherwise widely known as the Beaune Hospice. It is only a few miles away from us and is definitely worth a visit.

If you visit Beaune also take a ride on the tourist train, it leaves from outside the Hospice. It will give you a good understanding of how Beaune rose to prominence in the wine production and information on the various grapes grown in the region.

There are plenty of eating places in Beaune too.

❤️❤️❤️Beaune. If you go in at night there is a fabulous slide show projected onto the walls of the Hospice , the aire is great and just off main road and a short walk into the town.

If the Aire is full, there is a campsite in the town.
Also some good walking/cycling routes through the nearby vineyards.

Campsite in Beaune is excellent. Will need booking as fills up early. Nice walk into town through the old city gates. Visit the underground wine cellars of Patriarche Père et Fils. 15 euros to get in, self guided tour of the labyrinth of cellars with the old dusty wine bottles maturing away. May not sound like 15 euros worth of fun, but at the end of the tour is are wine tasting rooms. Basically, you get a small silver tasting bowl at the start of the tour, then at the end you wander through a load of little candlelit caverns that have open bottles of wine sat on barrels, from their cheaper bottles right up to expensive vintages, and the idea is you have a little sip of each to compare before buying at the end. Or in our case, a decent slosh of the 20 wines they had open the day we went! There are spit bowls around, but why waste good wine??

There are a couple of sales folk at the end of the tour and you can try some more of their even more expensive ones (poured by them this time) including some lovely sparkling Cremant de Bourgogne. There was no hard sell, there is an extensive bottle shop upstairs where there are a variety of liqueurs (again, open for tasting) plus all of their wines.

A very good way to spend a couple of hours and after that, the projections on the sides of the buildings are even more impressive! (especially the cat that chases a mouse in and out of a four story buildings windows up and down the outside of it....brilliant)

Hopefully not as a patient

One of the interesting facts regarding the treatment available in the Hospice is that there were often three patients sharing a bed. Makes our present NHS look better, despite the waiting lists.
