A glorious morning at the Canterbury park and ride day, on our way to the Eurotunnel. Heading down West Coast(ish) of France to somewhere warm and dry. So if anyone has any nice stops on the way, please chip in.

Saint Biez en Belin could be our first stop to give you an idea of our direction. Quiet at park and ride.

And after the Loire Valley try Blaye on the Gironde estuary North of Bordeaux. 2 Aires opposite one and other offering EHU, water and dump. The wine chateau is entirely free but you can only stay for 48hrs. The new municipal one is huge (90 spaces) and is €6 per night with free EHU water and dump.

On the train having breakfast. The wonders of motorhoming. Thanks for the nice looking suggestions so far, looks like it's going to be a great trip. Who knows may meet some funsters on the way! Wherever we end up.

We are over on the Vendee, the weather is now changing from very sunny to overcast, its still warm but not a lot of sun is forecast.

if its sun youre after, then perhaps a quick weather check may help you to decide. it looks like central and eastern france are a better option for great weather or down past Bordeaux if you are determined to be on the west coast?

We didn't try to hammer it south but opted for Normandy and Brittany and then we may tootle down the coast towards the Vendee. Currently looking at the alignments in Carnac. There no Aires here but a lovely €18 site at Kerabus in the middle of the stones. Sunny day 18 degrees.

How was getting to the tunnel? Is the M20 still closed with diversions. We have a crossing this Friday.

No problem. Got diverted onto m20 but there in 30 minds from park and ride. 2hr earlier train.

Now in the sticks just outside Saint Beiz en Belin. Really nice park 4 night. Two Dutch and us, with friendly host who speaks better English than our French. Quiet sunny drive here listening to "Lilly the Pink" and "Dashing away with the smoothing iron" amongst other classics.

Spring has sprung! The mop is out already. Only for the screen though. Useless exercise anywhere else.

We just traveled up from Spain to Dieppe. If you find my blog Mousy takes lithium to Spain it details a few french aires which we’ve really enjoyed.

Safe travels and enjoy your trip.

We returned today via the tunnel. There is not one lorry in the “stack” on the m20. Still you going have to use two lanes on the wrong side, and us going north use hard shoulder and lane 1, south get lane 3 and 4. Reduced to 50mph.

Thanks for that. So no M20 closure as such just a contra flow. We’ll still leave plenty of time though .

Peterc10, you took the sun away with you when you left:giggle:. Please DHL it back to Blaye.

Some good news though. When we were about to leave Saint Biez en Belin, we got a 516 error message on the truma. Coincided with running out of gas. But all sorted now. Details on another thread.
We'll visit market here tomorrow and then head south again. Looks like we'll go Southern Spain, Seville, Cadiz way, in search of some sun.

We've escaped 24 hrs of solid rain and landed in Huesca via the Somport tunnel. Which was a stunning but quiet route through the Pyrenees. Just stopped raining. The free Aire was rammed full but we've threaded Elsie through some roof piercing trees for the night.

We've now traveled back in the direction of the Pyrenees and are at the Aire in Ainsa. Three euros for the night plus three euros if you need to fill with water.
Drive from Huesca was ok in the main, but last 10km a a bit hairy now and then. But no major problems.

It's an ancient hilltop site, nice and quiet with plenty of walks and a stunning old town. The Aire is right next to the castle walls.

Why is it when you find a nice spot with a spare space either side with at least 30 spare spaces everywhere else on the Aire, that someone pulls up right next to you?????? Looks like we're moving to another spot tomorrow!

Arrived in Pals chasing the good weather. Now at Camping Mas Pataxos.

One other UK van here. Mostly caravans. Weather has taken turn for the better. True to form though. Tripped electric within 5 minutes:smiley: Forgot to turn off water heating before switching kettle on.

We liked Pals & stopped at Mas Pataoxs for Halloween one year, the owners of the static vans arrived and the full site became very festive with lots of appropriate decorations 😊
