Quick question to those travelling in Europe with dogs. I’m going to France so getting a Certificate per regulations. I’m assuming I don’t need anything additional if we decide to cross into Spain for a couple of weeks i.e the certificate is for the EU, and not just France. Am I correct?

Correct. Valid for four months only. You might consider getting a EU passport while you are there.

Hi John
Certainly looking at the euro passport when we go.. However i am hearing that the rabies jab if given in UK lasts for 3 years, yet teh same jab given in france only lasts for 12 months. can anyone confirm or deny please

You have to ask when booking if they can give the three year rabies vaccination, some do, some don't.
Are yours due ?
If you get EU PP, don't let any UK vet near it for anything whatsoever

We are in Spain with our two border terrorists. Ahc cost us £140 for both dogs. We have booked a vet in Portugal 2 x EU pet passports with 2 x 3 year rabies jabs €120.

We got our EU pet passport here in Portugal and a 3 year rabies vaccination all for the princely sum of €81 👍

Are people managing to get European Pet Passports for their dogs even if they have no second home/friends/relatives addresses to use? I don't speak any other languages but I suppose I could email vets using google translate, but just wondered if it would actually be possible if I'm very obviously on holiday and could only quote a campsite address. Has anybody managed this please?

Yes. Our PP address is Plot 73 Camping Raco, Benidorm.

We used a friends Portuguese NIF number and address but that was only because the vet registered our dog on the chip database in case he gets lost etc. I do know of others who have used Portuguese vets without having anything else but a UK or campsite address

Yes.

No problems in France dispite what they say. Ours worked fine on return no problems no French address was even mentioned they put our uk address on it.

On return to UK at a different vet for the worming tablet we asked if the passport was all ok any issues we might have and she confirmed everything was fine.

Hope this helps

No address asked for when we got ours. Just had to hand over the 11 euros.

Thankyou everyone, that’s very encouraging. We aren’t going abroad until September, I just hope they don’t clamp down on this before then!
