Anyone not read the blurb that goes with the video......

It was one of two just cars ever built and built in 1910, with an engine capacity of 28.5ltr......yes 28.5 litres.

The current owner bought both cars, one being in Australia with a knackered chassis.
the engine from that was grafted into the chassis you see now.

BHP / MPG etc...no idea but probably not as much as you may think...maybe as little as 200bhp, fuel consumption......probably rediculous.

It is to appear on tv sometime in feb next year and hopefully will appear at Goodwood festival of speed.

Good to see a man with orange hi-vis jacket in charge of H & S !!

The school bus driver says that FIAT means fix it again tomorrow.
And yes, it is off the road again, the old Transit bus has been brought out of retirement for the duration - but t doesn't have a wheelchair lift so there has to be a taxi for the wee mannie next door. He doesn't like the taxi so we hear the screams :(

28.5 litre four cylinder delivering 300 BHP and a mountain of torque, the last person to drive it in 1913 on a land speed record attempt managed 134 mph and said afterwards "1st and 2nd were OK, 3rd required all my experience as a racing driver and fourth required the courage of 100 men".

There were quite a few of these monstrous machines made back then, another favourite of mine is the 1906 Darracq with 26 (ish) litre V8 and two speed transaxle, look it up on youtube.

D.

so is it comlaint for london ?

All that on a ladder chassis and spoked wheels. Thank God it had an impulse starter, imagine your wrists if that lump kicked back
Men in Sheds, gotta love it !

Noticed the chain drive to the rear wheels, wasn't there a land speed record holder killed when the chain snapped on his car? Was that the one they buried on the beach?

Yes, I believe it was.. name eludes me but it was dug up and a restoration made ( lord knows if it was ever finished )

So the chain didn't snap, the wheel did and flipped the car. Still a beast of a thing, 27 ltrs, I bet they get more bhp out of a 2ltr these days with a turbo or a blower.

Babs was on display at the museum at Pendine last time I visited a couple of years ago. Entry was free. The car and is a sight to behold. There is also a small collection (approx 1/2 dozen) vintage motorcycles on display there.
