Under normal circumstances Mending, off the A61 North West of Koblenz is an easy free stopover( paid electric)
It is next to the lava dome museum . However, that may well be a book in advance place now.

Bad Bodendorf near Remagen next to Thermal Pools and great little restaurant opposite, not to be confused with the Sports Centre one which you pass on the way in.

Metz. Interesting town. The free aire is on large carpark outside campsite next to river.

I can vouch for this one. Was only looking at a one night stay but stayed 2 on Friday saturday just gone, mainly because i hadnt tried enough of the beers in said brewery. Its on volcanic route. Still free. euro coin option not working so 10 cents 10 litres. Was full Friday nearly full saturday. empties in the morning so be there by 1800 hrs on a weekend and youre good. Overflow round the back or up the road in the coach park.

There is a 9.5 per cent beer at 8 euros (I nearly choked) but worth every cent as it takes twice as long to drink and they do a single malt at 45 euros a bottle (yet to be tasted) food was semi reasonable Rewe in town, days out visiting volcanoes
