It’s really good value, lovely people and reasonably priced home cooked food, I had the gammon steak with veg and local potatoes, £12.50 !Funnily enough I noticed that the other day while looking at Search for sites. Must have passed it loads of times and didn't know it was there.
We are going down to Hoddom castle next weekend.
Went for the pineapple instead poor choice!View attachment 634244
Where's the fried egg, can't have gammon without a fried egg.
You can have egg or pineapple or both! Being Scottish I only have egg for breakfast!!View attachment 634244

No charge, they ask you to have dinner. There are toilets, grey and black waste and fresh water. Amazing value.Looks like our sort of place. Is there a charge to park if you're eating?
Without a yoke I hope !!You can have egg or pineapple or both! Being Scottish I only have egg for breakfast!!
Name Metal Bridge might be a guide. What's the noise from the motorway like? Doesn't look the most peaceful stopover.
It’s pretty quiet overnight, certainly never disturbed me any time I’ve stayed, but also there is a railway line close by so in daytime you do hear it.What's the noise from the motorway like? Doesn't look the most peaceful stopover.

I love the idea of pub stopovers but they get too expensive for two people by the time you've had a pint and some food.
But I've just been spoilt by France where for about £5 you can stay and still buy a Pain Tradition, an Eclair Cafe and Tranche d'Amande to go with a nice Italian Espresso from your hob.We are doing a pub stop on the coming Wednesday night, and looking at their menu is going to cost us less than £40 for our 2 courses and a drink each.
I would rather pay £40 and have a nice meal and evening rather than pay £25 for bugger all other than renting a small patch of grass for a few hours.
I like that option too but its hardly 2 courses and a drink each!. The nearest would be a fixed price menu including a pichet of wine probably at a similar cost. But I've just been spoilt by France where for about £5 you can stay and still buy a Pain Tradition, an Eclair Cafe and Tranche d'Amande to go with a nice Italian Espresso from your hob.
