No, I’m at the Metal Bridge Inn near Carlisle, closest to an Aire or Stellplatz that I’ve been on.

Funnily enough I noticed that the other day while looking at Search for sites. Must have passed it loads of times and didn't know it was there.
We are going down to Hoddom castle next weekend.

It’s really good value, lovely people and reasonably priced home cooked food, I had the gammon steak with veg and local potatoes, £12.50 !

Looks like our sort of place. Is there a charge to park if you're eating?

We did call in once but left we thought the motorway would be too noisy, ie joints on bridge but if not i stand to be corrected.

I love the idea of pub stopovers but they get too expensive for two people by the time you've had a pint and some food.

We are doing a pub stop on the coming Wednesday night, and looking at their menu is going to cost us less than £40 for our 2 courses and a drink each.
I would rather pay £40 and have a nice meal and evening rather than pay £25 for bugger all other than renting a small patch of grass for a few hours. (y)

But I've just been spoilt by France where for about £5 you can stay and still buy a Pain Tradition, an Eclair Cafe and Tranche d'Amande to go with a nice Italian Espresso from your hob.

I like that option too but its hardly 2 courses and a drink each!. The nearest would be a fixed price menu including a pichet of wine probably at a similar cost.

Which is why we prefer to tour abroad. Three weeks touring France in May this year and only had to pay on two of the dozen or so aires we stayed on, 5 euros on one and 8 euros on the other.
Mind you, we very rarely stay on anything other than cl's or pop-up sites in the UK.
Most of our UK stays are on Funster rallies.
