Hello - would welcome help.

As is says on the tin - my Alde 3020 has decided not to work central heating on mains electric. Works well on gas.

I'm off skiing very early Jan and definitely need it sorted before - truck is into SMC Tuesday so hopefully they can find the fault.

The van was parked by my house with electric supply uninterrupted and heating well on mains only until about a week ago when the system temperature fell and now it will not heat up on mains only. I made no changes at that time.

SMC have no particular advice over the phone and their call to Alde gave result that this fault has not been found before. Alde say if mains element fails that is a big deal and the whole truck 'leccy would likely to trip.

I've checked as many fuses as I can find and all good. The truck display shows mains in and all else works. The Alde panel shows mains attached - little plug symbol.

Manual says 230V relay may have failed - I have no idea where that would be.

advice welcome - system is still under warranty so end result should be OK, but I need it fixed in next 4 weeks and that is my concern with SMC 5 hours away.

Getting there!
Nothing daft like you've got gas priority set or its in either night or day mode?

Don't think so - I have reset panel (often) and when I check if 'leccy working, I switch gas off. Odd that change came with truck happily parked up and no changes on my part. No big bang, smell of 'leccy burning or warning lights.

Not long enough!
I think there is 2 year warranty.
Perhaps book it in, just in case you can't resolve.

Have you got hot water?
Not sure presently - I've drained the system to be sure. But I'd guess not.
Truck is booked in Tuesday - My worry is that they will need a part which they do not stock (and won't get in advance)
It's a 10 hour round trip for me.

If you need bits dare say they will nick it off another van if you're up against it.

I hope so - pump is running and heater works well on gas.

'tis a mystery for sure.

Just an update:
SMC managed to fix the Alde heater. A circuit board within the boiler had failed. They swapped for a new one off a new van and Alde have been good to SMC and sending a replacement. That bit FOC as under warranty (or hidden in the more than £1k cost of Hab check and Gaslow tank insertion.)
45l plus refillable gas and leccy heating so should survive ski camping.
Tipped the mechanic a bottle of jack Daniels to say ta -

Can't stand the stuff personally, I'm a Speyside single man myself.
