Hi Folks,
I am considering getting a Vanbitz Strikeback alarm due to insurance stipulation.
However I am slightly concerned about the dashboard LED.
As this is to be our main sleeping area (drop down bed) will a red LED blinking away be an irritating distraction at night?

Hoping for some feedback from folks that are already have this or similar.
Thanks Folks,
Kev

I doubt if you would see it up in the bed also it will be behind the blind. The odd time we have used our drop down bed I've not noticed our LED.

Edit:
Forgot our front blind is an insulated aluminum, nothing gets through that.

We have the Vanbitz Growler and yes the red led on the dash , under the drop down bed , is annoying , lights up all the interior we have a small piece of cloth fixed to the air vent just above the led and at night lay this over the light.

Yes, it could be annoying at night (ours is a blue LED), but we don't often have the alarm set at night.
For those times we do, I experimented with covering it with a plastic bottle cap, but that was too translucent. Latest idea is to cover with a metal beer bottle cap. I'm always worried I'll forget the alarm is set and open the doors in the morning and set it off.

I too have the blue light. I have a very small rolled up picnic blanket which fits just nicely behind the gear lever in front of the LED. Don’t see it all at night and I have a drop down bed.

Even on the “dim” setting, the light can be seen. I cover it up with a cloth I use for cleaning the windows. With silver screens on no one can see it anyway so covering doesn’t matter. As my wife is the first up and out with the dogs in he morning, as a reminder I have the alarm set I have a sign wrapped around the door handle; “alarm set”.

We never set the alarm the alarm at night, we just make sure the doors are locked.
I'm positive nobody would get into our van without rocking it or making some noise and we are very light sleepers.
Plus - we have very little worth nicking :hugs:

Not unless they gassed us first of course :Eeek:

If it is a concern simply discuss the mounting options with us on the morning of the installation.

Mine is not Vanbitz but I have mounted red flashing leds externally in front grid (photo)

and at the rear.

The Vanbitz system of three switches and the leds can be switched off. The dash blue LED can be switched to a lower brightness and the switched itself can be flicked the opposite way to turn them off.

One switch is to lower the brightness of the internal and external LEDs.
One is the external bike loop.
One is to deactivate the internal sensor so you can activate the doors etc but not activate the internal sensor.

So in effect you can turn them off in a way.

Ummm no, if you arm the alarm, the leds are armed. Yes you can dim them but not switch them off, the only way for the leds to be turned off is not to arm the alarm at all.

As for covering the internal led when sleeping, when I get undressed for bed I simply cover it with one of my socks I've just taken off.
