Good afternoon good folks ( and Funsters of course heehee ! ),

I read a post from a fellow Funster recently recommending a free Aire with water, waste dump etc near the marina close to Santander Ferry terminal,

I meant to copy it, but of course forgot !, and have just spent an hour trying to find it with no joy,

Can anyone point me to it please,

Thanks,

Ken :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink:

The aireas is at 43.42738 -3.80511 Its nothing special
We stay at a free parking area in the trees just down the road, much nicer 43.42750 -3.81271

It's round the back of the airfield right on the marina. You drive through an industrial estate. If you are coming from Santander it's tricky to describe. Your best bet maybe to Google Santander marina. Or if you have CC
Santander marina

Theres also a free one at 43.47227 -3.80289 but we haven't used it personally

I (Sedge) recently saw a newspaper report saying a keeper at the wildlife park had been killed by an elephant which had far from gone berserk, just caught the bloke forcibly with its trunk whilst swinging it from side to side naturally - poor bloke was obviously simply in the wrong place at the wrong time and got forcibly tossed aside by Eli. Never even thought of the possibility of that happening - always portrayed as gentle giants.

Mind you - years ago the insurer I worked for insured John Aspinall's business and a graduate trainee currently on my section there - big rugger playing lad, assessed by all of us as good fun - but pretty sensible all in all - logical chap when posed with problems - was invited to go with the Loss Control Engineer to do the annual assessment. Big cats had been fed so no hassle, so JA went into the cage - then he asked Pete if he wanted to join him? Peter said Yes please - and did so under strict instruction from JA what to do/not do. JA finished in there after Peter came out again, and joined them outside.

'Gorgeous, isn't he Peter? he asked. Such an overgrown pussy, when you were scratching his belly and he was purring with pleasure, did you like that? (Oooh yes, thanks! ) Never forget he could have quite easily broken your neck in 2 seconds flat, had he chosen to flick his wrist and toss you into the air!'

This aire above is by a lake 25 mins. from Santander ferry and is very open, with lots of birds, relaxed and also next to the elephant park, which many people say is well worth a visit.

We like that one, even went around the park last time.
The services are a bit grim.
Is it suitable enough for mh's? I see a few posts saying the markings aren't very good to know where you can and can't go.

I'm going tomorrow.

It's good, quite hilly, well it is in the mountains, I seem to remember there was one narrow bit but only a few meters.
