Right my lovelies. Annual ski trip. Obviously C d E is out of the question and a recent post on Camper contact said the Aire itself was having problems. Due to my job in a school we have to do a late night crossing on the tunnel, arriving at about 1am on April 3rd. Looking for somewhere off the A26, within prob an hour at the most, just to get our heads down before we drive to Pierre de Bresse on the Friday. We have to get our parkrun fix in. Don’t need facilities. Have looked at the various apps but your personal recommendations are often far more valuable. TIA.

Montreuil.. Get there mid-day have a stroll round the towns ramparts.
Thank you, looks lovely but a bit too far out this time. Maybe on the way back up.

why not park up for the night in the UK around 9pm and get a pre 6am tunnel crossing if you cant find anywhere? at least you get some sleep and if the crossing is delayed youre not getting into France at 2,3 or 4 am etc and having to find somewhere for just a couple of hours sleep

Watten looks to be close to the A26 and not too far away. We used it a few years ago, quite a nice little aire.

Now doubled in size too.

That's good to hear.

It was the first aire we used on our maiden voyage to France and as such became a favourite. Unfortunately, it also became very popular and the last 2 or 3 times we went there it was full and we ended up not bothering anymore, using Bergues instead.

You can't really go driving into Aires at that time of night, officially 10pm is the cut off time. Try to find a nice wild spot on Park4Night, do check on Google sat view it's suitable for your size van.
I never knew that! Did you scousebird ?

Can’t help with Aire or CDE. But when are feb and Easter dates to avoid school holidays ?

That’s a thought too :)

This would work for you as it's about 5 mins from A26. We've stopped here a few times :giggle:

We've used it a few times, it's about an hour from the Eurotunnel..

It is, but in the wrong direction :giggle: OP want's the A26 east bound whereas Montreuil is south bound A16.

Feb half term for Dorset is Monday 16th Feb
Easter starts Monday 6th April for 2 weeks. Some areas of Britain have different times but ours are pretty standard I think.

I don't think you will bother the neighbours too much. ;)

You stand a much better chance of finding somewhere suitable and legal to "park up" anywhere in Northern France than in Kent.

Have you told the French about that rule yet????? If not you really ought to.

It's always the Brits and Spanish that come in at silly O'clock, the French are all tucked up in bed by 10pm. Only downside is the noisy French always stand behind my van talking very loudly at 8:30am when I'm still trying to get some kip.

i didnt suggest they just park up anywhere !!!!!! there is the site at canterbury they could use or of they wanted to park for free, even the promenade at dover. i understand your comment but it wasnt what i had in mind !

Believe it or not Calais Harbour free after about 6pm never had an issue there even with the local café feeding immigrants the MH's were left alone easy peasy to get to off the boat and away first thing. after gettingyour heads down without driving too far sleepy. Have a great trip

Have booked the Drum Inn on the Thursday and an earlyish crossing on the Friday. Not quite the romance of waking up in France but wil find a nice aire on the way back up. Thanks for all the advice.
