Wondering if anyone knows if there is such a thing as an external air intake cover for Fiat Ducato 2020 .As when it rains I often find water in my air intake under the bonnet.

Its quite normal and not a problem. The air is taken upwards to the cab through the first corse filter and there is a hole in the bottom of the chamber to let water escape

I was meaning the engine air filter that close’s against the box under the bonnet or is that the same thing you described.?Thanks

That is the fresh air intake. The engine intakes are in the front scuttle and by a large plastic pipe to the circular air filter housing on the right below the engine level

if you are talking about the part that I’ve put red circle around, then that is the heater air intake. A small bit of water in there is normal, it has a drain further back, and air is taken from the top of the housing.

wiljoy was making a selling magnetic bonnet air intake cover a while back, I bought a pair.

We've got a set as well for our X250 however, as Wilf advises, they do not fully block water ingress (they're really to stop ingress of leaves, etc) however we solved this by "fixing" bits of kitchen cling film over the grills and then holding these in place with the covers.(y)

Whilst water ingress into the air intake isn't really a problem (as per Landy Andy ) you do get water dropping out of the part fitted under the grill and it tends to land on other bits including a box containing relays, etc.

I don’t think much thought was given at the design stage to water ingress, in consequence there is quite a bit of the wet-stuff sloshing about the engine bay during heavy rainfall.
One of the culprits is the scuttle (the moulding at the base of the windscreen) which discharges excess water over the engine if the drainage holes get blocked or overwhelmed.
A way to deal with this is to get an external screen which is long enough to cover the scuttle and the air intakes you refer to

I fitted one of the PaulandChrissy scuttle drain kits which solved that problem. (y)

This is my solution to the air intake leak around the rubber seal that Landy Andy marked with his big red marker pen. It deals with the water even when you’re driving and can’t leave the screen cover on.

This one deals with the water dripping in the central area above the engine, destroying your injectors.
