One of my customers is thinking of purchasing an Aguri Camper sat nav. Are they any good?
I've suggested he buys TomTom or Garmin but he wants to try Aguri. He'll be joining soon.

Stick with a smart phone with Google, Apple Maps, Waze, etc as you get live traffic built in.

We have the Aguri RV520 DVR. Would not rate it. I borrow the Garmin LGV 700 truck nav - it’s great, nice big screen. I even prefer my old Tom Tom which I keep in the car.

I have an Aguri 520 DVR. You can set it up for your vehicle parameters and, to date it has never taken me anywhere the van shouldn't go. The software for the device, maps and safety cameras is generally easy to load and I like the warning alerts for sharp corners etc. However it has a few functions that I dislike.....the volume is pitiful ( I use an external speaker box to hear it better) and it has a long start up cycle switching between camera view and navigation before you get going. On balance, there are better units out there even if cost is an issue. I'm luke warm at best.

We have an Aguri which causes no issues, although it does insist on lowering the screen speed limit even though we have no restrictions. we don't bother with the volume on any sat nav we use as we both find it very annoying and don't need phrases repeated ad nauseum every time we reach a junction. We use the factory fit unit in the motorhome as a rear view camera.

Another thumbs up for Aguri, ours has its faults ie takes a while to initiate and sometimes hard to see in bright sunlight but the navigation is fantastic . If I ever have to replace it ,it will be another Aguri so enough said .

I would advise your customer to stay well clear, we had one and tried it on two long France trips. Appalling piece of kit, slow, inaccurate, very questionable routing and severely annoying, has to be mounted vertically so the cam is pointing the right direction making the screen prone to glare. I really did nearly throw it out of the window on a couple of occasions, reverting back to an old Garmin I had luckily brought along.
It put me off anything Aguri ever again.

We had one for twelve months or so before I got rid. The mapping was reasonable but slow especially to start up and the user interface was completely unintuitive. Couldn’t see the screen half the time anyway. Pleased to get shut of it and buy the Garmin 785 Camper.

We’ve had one for a few years recommended by a fellow funster. We have found it works for us and has never sent us anywhere we wouldn’t want to take a 7.5m van. It’s plenty loud enough for us. We’ve used it in the Uk and across the water.

We do find it’s a bit pessimistic and we usually beat the time it gives us for arrival a little.

Yes it’s slow to start up and different to programme but you get used to that and every Satnav we have had has been hard to see in bright sunlight whatever the make.

I have the Aguri 750, which is good and has taken us as far as Slovenia, Italy etc with no problems. OK it is slow to start up, but it has a dash cam and can be used to search the internet. It also has thousands of campsites, supermarkets, fuel; stations etc.The irritating thing for us is the constant warnings it gives out - left bend ahead, lateral wind, steep hill, it's like we are stupid and unable to adapt to current conditions. For the price I think it is very good value and I shan't be replacing it soon. Map updates are free!! Latest version has Freeview TV

Aguirre 720 here, love it. Had it 3 years now and use it in the van, in the car and when towing the toad as well and it has only once made a mistake. The mistake was in Spain and was trying to turn us around using a low underpass, but it soon corrected itself.
It is slow to start up but I don’t find the programming any more difficult than a Tom Tom etc.
Speed limit indication is very useful, and accurate bearing in mind the different rules for being over 3.5t, and when towing.
I bought the clip on sun shield so don’t have a problem with glare.

Ours melted on top of the dash🙁
I wish my 520 would, I loath it with a passion, slow, clunky, awkward to use, on/off situated right where you you steady your finger when adjusting anything, in short,
Couldn't.
Recommend.
Another.
Purchase.
