New motorhome
New aerial which I dont think is possible to not put in correctly and it has an amp
2 tvs. One in bedroom and one in lounge
Really bad signal area at home and no signal available

So today, we went down the road (FiL in his motorhome and me in mine) He gets 80 channels. We then taken the lead direct from his aerial to lounge TV and get 140 channels (aerial literally has not moved) then we put the lead into bedroom tv and get the grand total of zero.

Now the zero TV was the one we had in the other van and worked perfectly previously

Has anyone got any ideas that we cant think of ?

Unscrew the aerial sockets in the lounge and bedroom, see if the cables are connected on the rear of the sockets. Also is the amp powered up ok and everything plugged in to it ?

faulty lead it sounds like. outer braid touching inner possibly
Stick a meter across the outer and inner with the meter set to ohms. If there is a short then it will show as a resistance nearly at zero, an open circuit will show no reading whatsoever, the latter is what you should get (BTW have the set end unplugged as well so you are only testing the cable)

process of elimination, swap the tvs, swap the fly leads - try your tvs in his van (or in your home) - though im pretty sure you will have tried/be trying that already !

Not sure I explained well enough.

The TV aerial on my van which is new, may well be useless or not working etc, however when we parked up next to FiLs van we used his aerial. He got 80 odd pictures, then the same lead to our lounge and we got 140 pictures and the same lead to the bedroom tv got diddly squat.

Its the "Why didnt the tv in the bedroom get anything" conundrum we cant get our heads around. As if there is some form of something on the telly that needs doing

And forgot to add, tried at home the bedroom tv direct from TV aerial on roof and no channels at all either !

Thanks for the reminder, so fault is definitely with the telly somewhere, somehow

I ought to add the brains of this operation is the FiL who is a sparky done all the testing etc

TV definetly faulty, it may be loose connection to the aerial socket inside the tv.

Sounds like a tv fault - does the bedroom tv show ‘no channels found’ or ‘no signal’ or what?

I got a free tv once because of that. I was doing some work on a really big house owned by a millionaire. One of the chaps that worked for him asked me to help lift the old TV outside as it was broken and a new one being delivered later. This was to be thrown in the next skip we had delivered. I asked if they minded first and put it in the back of my van instead

On getting home, I took the back off and the wire was off the aerial socket. 2 minutes with a soldering iron and we had a much nicer tv than the old one we had previously. That one lasted years longer than the previous one. My dear old mum didn't care much for the name B&O though. She was of a generation that foreign made stuff must be rubbish

This is going to sound daft, but you have tuned the tv haven’t you.

I ll have a go at this tomorrow.
This tv was purchased in the summer (delivered by funster in emergency situation) and taken out of the van couple of months ago and put into new van. I d be surprised if this was the answer but it has possibilities so well worth checking

No signal is what is shown
If the TV is set to Aerial input and not Sat or HDMI or other, then a faulty connection which could be remedied as above or if not, a knackered circuit board requiring a more complex fix.

Does it have HDMI and dies that input work?

What make and model of TV is it?

TV is set to Aerial and goes through analogue and Digital. When I isolate the digital there is literally no signal (good medium or bad) on each channel and that was at home off the tv antenna direct from roof of house and direct from FiLs motorhome aerial which received 80 channels

I know it probably sounds daft, but have you checked the aerial socket for the bedroom TV is actually hard wired to the roof aerial/ booster. Ask me why....I found this exact problem, paid for the TV in the bedroom option but whilst the 12v power point and aerial point we're installed, the aerial socket was not wired up, dealer/manufacturer excuse was they didn't know what aerial was to be fitted!!

We by passed it and went in direct so the lead when we have had channels to lounge has gone directly into back of tv and not through the motorhome set up to take out all possible options of mucking it up

Is the aerial lead to the bedroom TV connected to a TV output 'f' terminal on the signal booster, as one of the booster 'f' terminals is for radio only?

I had a similar experience, I live at a place called Southwood Manor Farm, just down the road from the Millionaires estate near Seven Hill Rd, Weybridge and was asked by a builder friend, who had been working on one of the mansions, if I wanted a free, very expensive washer/drier that leaked? He knew mine had just stopped working and as he had been paid to get rid off it, it was free.

When I looked at it, initially, could not find anything wrong with it until, a few weeks later, when I first used the Drier part and found a puddle on the floor.
There was a pinhole in the water pipe that sprayed pressurised water into the drier to stop the clothes creasing.
I changed the 8inch pipe and I had a £600 (back in the 80's) washer/drier for the price of a piece of pipe.

I still had that same machine 20yrs later! Amazing what people throw away?

No

Does the aerial on the FILs van need power to work, some do. Lots of van based TVs have an option for "5v Aerial Power". This powers the active aerial in / on the van, no power = no signal.
Check it on the TVs that are working and compare with the one in the bedroom.
Also worth checking bedroom Tv is looking for channels in the Uk as some countries use vhf and we use uhf. Should be an option somewhere to change country of location.
Finally be 100% sure you are searching for terrestrial not Sat signals and that the aerial is indeed connected to the aerial input and not the sat. Simple stuff first as always.
Good luck.

Tried the lot of that. His Tv (and both of mine) are set up for 5 amps.
I have currently found the Factory reset for the cello which for future reference for anyone is
Press source button
then quickly press 2580
go to shipping and reset
turns itself off and then starts looking for channels

I ll get the tv connected to home antennae shortly to see if that has made any difference

Digital TV's need to be tuned just like analogue. Eg today if you wish to watch BBC3 you have to re-tune the tv to watch it as the TV does not know the channel exists. There is a lot of computer technology built in these days as in a number of electronic items which is more than just "plug and play".

Got onto Cello techinical support and talked them through everything, they tried teh factory reset etc that we had tried and conclusion was Faulty tuner.
Where did i buy it and and when ?
Amazon and last June/July was the answer.
Ring them up and tell them you have spoken to us

Wowee what a service from Amazon !!!
I went on to the website, found my purchase, put my phone number in for contact to be made and clicked the button and IMMEDIATELY my phone rang. Robot voice telling me to put in a number if I wanted to speak to a person who could help me. Put that number in and IMMEDIATELY answered by a human. She listened and said "Looks like you need to send that back I ll transfer you" "Here we go I thought to myself" but shock horror another human came on the line 2 minutes later saying it has all been explained to me I ll send you an address via email to send it back and give you your money back.
Probably took less than 5 minutes !
