…….just as we hit 4,800 miles on the clock, so it looks like a trip to Aldi to see if they’ve any offers on!!
Presumably AdBlue deteriorates after a while, or should I always expect to top-up after that sort of mileage?

Don’t drive too far with the light on.……I ended up on a flatbed recovery vehicle as I couldn’t reset the system. Only drove about 50 miles……our car can do 1500 mi.see with the light on! (y)

If you got to 4,800 miles on a Ducato well done, mine just got to 2,000.

Getting AdBlu at a pump is best but if you have to get a 10l container I found holding and pouring it without spilling quite difficult so got a siphon pump from eBay which is easy to use and doesn’t take up much space in the van in case I need it on the road.

I think Fiat based motorhomes/campervans dont come full with Adblu. We got to 1900 miles before refilling with 11 litres then about 6000 miles before refilling. Depends on driving style as well.

After our experience I top up with approximately 3 litres every 1000 miles. I never want to see that light again thanks. (y)

Screwfix and toolstation sell it.

Toolstation has some but best to fill up at the pump as it's cheaper, easier and doesn't spill.
I found that the nozzle that comes with the 10 litre containers was too short to open the antisplash back flap and had to add an extra length of tube to prevent spillage.

I found that the nozzle that comes with the 20 litre containers was too short to open the antisplash back flap and had to add an extra length of tube to prevent spillage.
The 3 litre container I use is fine for the job. I’ve also got a 5 litre container I store in the back of the van, so 8 litres on board when we go away. Topped up from a 20 litre container I got from Toolstaion, which I keep in my workshop.

In relation to the subject of overfilling, the guy who came to us was from the RAC commercial division……he got a 20 litre container out to fill our tank up and filled it so much it was gushing back out like a waterfall!

It certainly won’t bother me now if I slightly overfill it for sure. As we were outside our home I was able to run the hose pipe out to the van and give it a thorough hose down. (y)

I was a little worried when I read your post Sapper520 as I was planning to drive home and ‘top-up’ there - 55 miles from Salisbury - so I dug out the Peugeot manual and looked at the AdBlue section (RTFM;)) which tells me the alert is triggered when the remaining range drops below 1500 miles, so I should be ok driving back to Ciren…..🤞;)

That’s exactly the same as my Peugeot 3008 manual……but Ducato owners beware…..you don’t get many miles before the, ‘You can’t start me’ message comes on. (y)

An update:-

I couldn’t find any garages that have AdBlue pumps near Cirencester, so bought 10 litres from Tesco and added about 5 litres to the tank - SWMBO held the funnel whilst I poured - the idea being to wait until the warning light comes on again and see how far we’ve travelled……
The AdBlue tank hold 14 litres, according to the Peugeot manual, but I’ve no idea how much is left in it when the warning light comes on……?

One tip for Adblue...don't let the service garage fill ...they charge a fortune my local Peugeot(V.....S)wanted £28....!!!!!!

Mine advised 1500 miles when the warning comes on ,the tank is supposed to take 14 - 15 litres ,enough for approx 6200 miles.

I got 11 litres in when my light came on and only 8 litres the time before

My Hymer/Mercedes had an AdBlue gauge available from the steering wheel buttons, I never saw or relied on the warning light. I can’t understand why other manufacturers do not have a gauge, as Sapper520 reports running out has serious consequences.

Same here on my 519. When the gauge gets below half, I leave it a bit and then refill as I can get the whole 10 litres in so nothing is hanging around getting stale. I buy my AdBlue online from a major supplier so that it is fresh stock. Probably the worst place is the garage forecourt where it is often sat in the sun for weeks

As I understand it, the ‘shelf-life‘ of Ad Blue is about 12 months from the date of manufacture, and six months once the container is opened….so I’ll have to use my ‘other’ 5 litres soonish….!;)

edit: Just looked at the container, and the AdBlue was produced on 22/01/2022.

My Ducato takes 19 litres. As I said before, once the mileage turns past the thousand miles I top up with approximately 3 litres or so. Easy to remember…..4000, 5000, 6000 etc ;)
