Two questions please:

1. roughly how many miles should I expect between Adblu refills? Its a peugeot boxer 2.2 base with under 3000 miles . I had no real idea but expected a longer intervals
2. There doesnt seem to be an adblu pump particularly close - the handbook suggests I have about 1500 miles between first warning and failure to start There seem to be plenty of canisters available at petrol stations, halfords and even amazon - is there a preferred brand?

Thanks

i have topped up my adblue only once. Peugeot motorhome, almost covered 7k

It is all to the same standard ISO 22241. As long as that is on the canister it is ok. I personally would avoid forecourts where it sits in the sun. Most of it is made by Yara whatever the brand

If you bought the vehicle new it is more than likely that the AdBlu tank was not full, (cost reduction).

Once you have topped up fully you can begin to monitor it more achy.

When some vehicles come from the factory they only have the minimum amount in the tank. If this is the first time you have put AdBlu in the van then fill it to maximum and then see what miles you get.
This was the case with my Mercedes based van. 10 ltr container from Merc was £8.00 +vat.

Thanks everyone - yes it was new and I suspected Elddis/Glossop might have sold it half full (half empty?) Just been to Tesco for diesel and they had Red X adblu under the main canopy out of the sun at £10 for 10L - I had looked in the handbook and all it says is ISO22241 so thought "that'll do"

Sods law - driving home after Tesco and "engine oil needs changing" flashed up on the dash. Service booked in at end of June and so should be ok till then

Our BP sells it for, from memory, about 55p a litre which we top up when returning from the local Morrisons with gas and before going to Tesco for fuel.

Check your service schedule for intervals
Mine had been set for 1yr hard working - when it should be 2yr

75 miles from warning light coming on to, ‘Going nowhere mate’. Fiat, not Peugeot.

Added 10 litres, light stayed on, warning light now saying add 1.1 gallon……I’ve put in a total of 14 litres now and warning lights and messages still on.

Awaiting breakdown…..luckily we’re at home.

The trick is not too buy more than you need at the time, if you are not going to do high miles as it degrades once opened. Be sure to store the container some where cool and out of sunlight.

I think for the hassle I would just top up regular at an hgv pump with ad blue for sale, buy as much or little that you want.

RAC guy arrived about half 11, still trying to get into the software. ‘Computer say NO’.

He brimmed the Adblue tank…..still nothing.

My Adblue is about 3 months old, unopened and stored in a cool workshop. Wanted some to hand as I had no idea how much the dealer had put in…..it’s a new van.

Looking at recovery to our local Fiat Professional garage who can take a look 2nd week in July. :(

What about an iveco hgv garage that does vans as well, same firm
Fiat garage is about 5 miles away.

Waiting for a recovery vehicle, earliest that can look at it is 9th July but I’ve no option but to get it to the garage as it’s a non starter and is blocking our car in our garage. 🤷‍♂️

Fiat Garage said, ‘We’ll put in a warranty claim but you should have stopped and added Adblue as Fiat could be funny about that’. I didn’t even bother to try and argue the point.

The Dealership will park it in their insecure carpark, but will not accept liability so I’ve informed my insurance who are happy to cover it whilst at the dealership.

First MH and it’s testing our patients.

Well what do you know. Just had a call from the Fiat garage…….Van ready!🥳

They said they went through the reset procedure and it‘s fine.🤷‍♂️

That’s after I tried doing it, then the RAC guy spending 2 hours trying to do it yesterday morning……and failing.

Electronic’s……it’s a dark art!(y)
