Hi all,

I need to replace the mirror in the motorhome bathroom as it's broken. I was thinking about using an acrylic mirror to replace the heavy 820mmx660mm glass mirror

Has anyone got an acrylic mirror and if so how does the reflection compare to a normal glass mirror?

Thanks

Stephen

I replaced a broken glass mirror with an acrylic one on my previous motorhome. The replacement was absolutely fine - just marginally more blurry than the glass.

Do they hold up better against moisture rotting the edges?

I don’t have a reflection…….should I be worried….?!?! o_O o_O o_O o_O ;)

Mine acrylic mirror is just fine.

You do need to be careful to avoid scratches as it’s nowhere near as robust as glass, so a gentle wipe with a wet cloth then buff with a micro fibre once in a while

They're good. No idea if they'll last as long, but they're definitely safer and lighter.

Thanks to all who answered the OP's question, as OH wants a full-length mirror fitted and I also was thinking of keeping the weight down.

Even our ‘budget’ Elddis has a full-length glass mirror - I wonder why converters don’t fit lighter acrylic ones - presumably for all the caveats above……?

Only if up and about in the daytime and your better half is wearing garlic and carrying a crucifix!

Let’s hope you other half doesn’t misinterpret your reference to keeping weight down. 🙂

An update on the acrylic mirror....

I cannot see a difference in the image quality. It weighs a quarter of the glass one. Only thing I did notice was that it is not as rigid as the glass mirror and if it is slightly convex and not flush with the wall the image is slimmer than it should be!

I am very happy and I have had no complaints from OH 😁

I put one on swmbos wardrobe in the mh at her request. Unfortunately the door it's on is convex and makes everyone look even fatter. There's a much better glass one in the washroom.
