I’m planning on travelling from Calais to Spain next month and will route via Rouen and onto the A71 to A75 route to the Med.
I’ve been searching through old posts for stop suggestions and I’m on with the usual apps but wondered if anyone has got their preferences on or just off the above route?
I may do my first stop at Neufchâtel en Bray and I’ve been told Chartres is nice and Issoire has a municipal near to the A75 which is good.
Where do you stop if you’ve done this route?
I’ve got about a week to get to Spain and I’ll be on my own so need to make it easy as possible but would prefer some interest around the stop.
Thanks!

used this site a few times just off the A75 couple of aires close by as well.

Depends how far you want between stops. It's a big country. Just use your apps and go for it. We have favourites and regularly take that route but ...

Chartres well worth a visit, take little train around town, we stayed at

Courville Sur Eure and got train.

. Millau is great, lots of sites in town. Lots stop at gruisson, we like leucate plage

Thanks for that
Sorry, bit of a no post really. I was going to list a few sites, then thought you didn't ask for Aires, as we rarely do campsites. Recently we've used the more westerly A20 to Toulouse, too. Makes even more of a no post! Anyway, we're down here down south now, and it's great! I'll best bow out!!

Chartres is a nice city and easily walkable from the site. Site adequate facilities ish

Salbris Sologne campsite just off motorway nice site and town stop-off.

St Flour camping International right on motorway junction. Dated facilities and little near by but convenient.

Lots of sites at Millau
Several le chateau convenient site just off motorway

L'hospitet du larzac close to motorway.
2 and a bit hours from Spanish boarder.

La Cavalerie just south of the millau has a decent aire easy walk into village, ehu. Fuel stp 100meters.

This is a rout wev taken down the West with milage between. Calais _Montreuil 40miles Nonancourt 141 miles Couhe 214miles Pissos 165miles Errenteria 106miles Cariñena 175 Benicàssim 172. That's an easy run through. I have the GPS for the aires if you want.

:LOL: Don't bow out just yet.

Aires recommendations will be just as appreciated if you've stayed there and think they was good.

I'm working through the aires at the moment on various Apps but it's always good to hear a recommendation from a Funster as they usually tell it as it is.

That would be great - thanks xsparks.

If you're stopping at Chartres, the evening illuminations are well worth seeing. When we stayed at the campsite, the gates were locked at 10pm so we didn't really have enough time to fully enjoy the show. Last year, we stayed on the aire (just a carpark with no services but you can use those at the campsite), so we were able to spend plenty of time enjoying the light show.

Issoire for fuel at the Carrefour.
La Canourgue - now a camping-car park site but Village Etapes with a couple of hotels, take away and cafe.

Certainly Milleu is worth a stop, the viaduct de Milleu is spectacular, the last aire just before the viaduct has good viewpoints and an exhibition about the construction, it is also worth going down into milleu to view it from below, if you are into cheese roquefort is not too far away where you can do various visits.
