Filled up the MH last week heading home from Spain. €112! The €100 threshold has been well and truly breached

That was in France, where we live. Brain refuses to recall the exact price per litre (too traumatised lol?) but think it was around €1.55, makes the €1.25 we paid in Spain seem a bargain, though it didn't feel it at the time.

MrS's Yorkshire war cry ("How much?!!!") could be heard across Western France ;)

Brits are being overcharged for fuel, the driver shortage was nothing more than a clever scam. Guess what !?. So many fell for it. We were in Spain at the time so did not have to contend with it.

The UK fuel prices are around 12p a litre more than they should be. The suppliers and the government are raking it in.

Here in Spain it’s around €1.37 (£1.14). Near big cities there are some discounted sites. I paid €1.26 in Alicante last week. Luckily the Audi we drive here returns 60+mpg.

But it could be worse, has anyone seen fuel prices in the Netherlands?.

When I left Spain in November it was costing me about €1.18/litre using my Esclat loyalty card, less than £1.00, filled up in Clermont Ferand on the way back and it was €1.55/litre

I did say "Fuel Prices". Diesel was always a reasonable price. You see a lot of Dutch cars running on LPG and filling up in Luxembourg

its not nice when fuel goes up but if you need it you need it what's the alterative stop at home looking at the back of the fire there will be plenty of time for that & there are no pockets in shrouds . we fuel up every time we are near a supermarket in Europe cheapest place never use a m/way pump at home we don't use the m/h much ( NOT M/H FRENIDLY LIKE EUROPE ) just the car & fill up once a month

Where did we find all the lorry drivers after the price hike?
There is still a driver shortage, it has been mitigated somewhat by the wage rises bringing people back in. The license/test rules changed.

Also companies started training directly again, and paying big sign up bonuses.

But many companies are still struggling to get drivers.

What made people start to panic buy?
It was a short press release by one of the fuel companies saying that they were going to prioritise deliveries to motorway service stations that day because of driver shortage.

Didn't help when the BBC sent their reporter, Phil McCann to report on it, gave the public ideas

Yes, but not a shortage of drivers delivering fuel.

Why did diesel prices rise 15 - 20 % in the Uk whilst in Spain and other parts of Europe it was 5%?.

Everyone in the UK is just happy to have a full tank.

Thought you were there with a tent in the boot of a car, or am I behind the times ?
I was, then a cabin and then an apartment…. In February it’ll be an apartment again as I’m flying out as I’ve met someone out there so will probably be doing short regular trips to see her…😎😉

Yes, but not a shortage of drivers delivering fuel.
There was a slight shortage of fuel truck drivers, and one organisation tried to make political hay... Their statement leaked and caused a panic buying round, which meant the slight shortage of fuel tank drivers for one company became a major shortage of fuel tank drivers for all companies, until the panic buying subsided.

Free market capitalism and taxes.

You've done it now, the NMC will be out looking for hats

Pleased for you though, nice to hear of people finding happiness ;)
