Morning Funsters... I love to follow all these interesting (mostly) topics.
I am sure it is not just me but some threads can be really difficult to follow especially if halfway through the thread one,or more, of the posters name changes.
I.E. following a thread with someone with a Funster handle of Bobcar (apologies if there is actually a Bobcar out there) is suddenly referred to as Brian.
Now I appreciate that there is a lot of friendships out there and it is easy to use a person's given Christian name but for ease of use, not to mention my sanity could I please appeal to you all to use Funsters Names when on the forum and save the Christian names for the rally field.
Regards

Nice one Tom

I have never understood the need for 'nicknames' when registering on any forum.

I have always used my name if possible, what's the reason? some user names are simply ridiculous, and appear to be some weird Internet persona..

How do I tell Shirly Smith she is nuts
Without offending the other 44 Shirly Smiths.
Before Shirly Smith comes on having a go at me, I wasn't talking to you.

Everyone knows a Smiffy but I get called lots of different names in person And couldn’t repeat them on a family forum...😆
Yes, Cuthbert. I can understand why:Smile:

There is sometimes a good reason for that. Some employers very aggressively search the internerd for their existing and future employee's social exploits "for HR purposes". One previous employer has a zero tolerance of anything to do with having a good time, so it sometimes helps.

And anyway my real name of Darth Vader draws a little too much publicity and unwelcome light sabres

Mine's a nickname of 55 years usage by family and friends (and it's also my pen name in biking magazines). It's also part of my simple email address (spriddler@..... .com) to save needing to create a long-winded one, e.g. Richard-smith.family_45@yahoo.co.uk........ if there are already many Richard Smiths who have had to register with a multitude of creative variations.

P.S.
I'll only go so far as to say that mine's a contraction of my two kids' nicknames: daughter 'Sprinkler' and son Widdler'. How they laughed.

You haven’t asked, bit I’ll tell you.
Using my user name is a long drawn out sort of invalid protest 🤔
When I joined a company early in my career when usernames became necessary, the IT dept named me kevenh 😳. I was a little put out to be rechristened but allegedly it was unreversible

I assume kevinh was already taken. I’ve no idea why he/she didn’t think kevinh2 would work but hey ho.
I’ve ended up with a pretty unique user name I can take to most forums & find unused.
& it’s pretty close to my real name 😛
