Hi everyone
I discovered your forum whilst searching for free camping sites. My husband and I are planning to hire a MH in May/June next year and have our first experience in a MH. We’re considering a 3 day trial to prepare us for a longer journey in September. We have a golden Cocker Spaniel, Willow, who is currently recovering from slipped disc surgery but she should be fighting fit by May. We live in Stranraer so thought we might travel up to Saltcoats to a proper site for 1st night, try free/fly camping 2nd and end at a proper site near Kirkcudbright 3rd night so we can empty tanks before returning MH. New MH hire place just opened in Lochans which is very handy for us.
I would be grateful for any advice you can give us.

Stranraer eh? "A Wild and Lonely place" as private Fraser put it. At least it was when I lived there. Probably got a lot quieter when I left! Top tips? Be aware of the van size especially doing low speed maneuvers such as parking, pulling in, reversing, everything is closer than you think. Keep an eye on your water usage / waste tank levels. Initially you may use more than you think being used to mains connections. If you are looking for a site near Kirkcudbright, Silvercraigs Caravan park is worth a look.

Final Top tip.........enjoy your adventure
