Apologies another A Frame thread- just aimed at anyone had an a-frame fitted to a car with key-less ignition ( ie no key barrel) and any issues?
Ive had opinions from suppliers, but would like to hear from the horses gob if anyone got one

( Polite request- not interested in legalities of a-frames etc or whats the point posts)

Cheers

As far As I know the problem occurs when you turn it off most of these new fangled monstrosities promptly winch the handbrake on with an electric motor and have a steering lock with a proximity device.

Hello we have a Toyota IQ keyless and we had problems.....when the A frame was fitted a separate rocker switch was also installed on the dash which when turned off will immobilise the steering lock when we tow.
The down side is that when using the car you will need to turn off the rocker switch after you have turned off the engine or else it will drain the battery. Hope this helps.

We have a Peugeot 108 supplied by Towbars2Towcars with keyless ignition and have had no problems since purchase 3 years ago.
There is a special rocker switch installed which enables the stering lock to be disengaged for towing.

I have found Towbars2Towcars to be very genuine, knowledgeable and helpful .. highly recommended.

Thanks-that’s the reassurance I was looking for

Just a hint to anyone with ordinary ignition-using a key-we had a non-transponder ignition key cut & we leave that one in the ignition when car is being towed.
The Transponder one-that will start the car engine-is safely in our pocket!

I have done the same thing but take care not to turn the un-chipped key to the cranking position because this triggers a fault code on my VW Up.
