Van Conversion Prop

Since 2013
We have recently purchased a Peugeot Boxer Van to develop as a Camper Van. Strangely enough an early difficulty we are having is sourcing a comfortable replacement the front passenger seats. The van seats are a fixed double seat which have no armrest and no adjustments. We would like a full captains seat or at least the equivalent of the drivers seat. We have tried local conversion garages and beyond but to no avail. If anybody can point us in the right direction I would be very grateful. Would it suffice to simply buy a left hand drive, drivers seat? If so how would I get my hands on one?!
This is my first post and I eagerly await responses. I know there will be a wealth of knowledge and experience out there. TGhank

Try your local scrap yard and buy a matching pair from a car..Many people carriers have front seats fitted with arm rests
BUSBY.

Available on EBay but a new one is around £450.

The 'captains seats' in all the vans we have had are just the standard seats with a swivel on the bottom ( which are available from lots of places )
All you need is a 2nd hand seat and a plate

In fact there are a pair of pre owned ones on fleabay at the moment. And they will fit on your base(s)

As others have said, you should be able to find a second hand seat easily enough, although those from a van are unlikely to have two armrests.
I have a friend whose wife had a back problem and he managed to fit a seat from a Honda CR-V, although that was to an X244.
There are plenty of safety tested swivels around, FASP is a common make. I would discount that universal fit one on e-bay. This is a safety critical item and I wouldn't buy someting that needed cutting and carving like that one does.

We used Saab seats re upholstered in our T5 very comfortable also look at Italian made ISRI seats

a passenger seat in the uk is simply a drivers seat on a left hand drive van

a pair of front seats from a quality car tend to be comfortable and fairly simple to fit using a pair of strips of steel bolted to the swivels and high quality bolts welded to them at the correct spacing for the seat runners

SAAB 9000 Aero seats are superb. 9-5 Aero not quite as good but still recommended. Unfortunately I scrapped one of each vehicle before I even thought of getting a van but when my current 9-5 runs out I'll save the seats.

I'd be wary of changing the seats without notifying the Insurance Co. if you were in a crash bet they might say it was an un-authorised modification.
