Not urgent as we’re not swapping our van anytime soon ...

We love our Campscout but feel a foot or 2 more up front in dinette area would transform it so that started us looking at Crafter/Sprinter conversions.

I know it’s harder to tell from photos and layouts but they do seem to do things like add tall cupboards rather than give more relaxing space up front ...

Anyone seen a larger PVC that feels roomier up front - it must have longitudinal beds as OH too tall to sleep across.

A word of caution ... check what wheelbase a new one would be on, if it's any longer it would make turning corners etc more 'onerous' than on your current one.

La Strada did a Sprinter conversions
We thought about the Regent L but they are rarer than the Revolution that we found and very expensive
Be aware that the Sprinter is a narrower van than the Fiat
Have a look on Broken Link Removed
They have a number of makes that are not sold in the UK and may give you some ideas
You could look at coachbuilts but then you loose the advantages of a PVC

Campscout Revolution feels bigger due to the extra high top and had a lot more storage and larger fridge etc.

Yes the higher top my well give the illusion of space.
I think MHing is all about compromises and the Campscout works just now.
mid be wary of trading ‘up’ to e.g. a slimline A class then finding I still needed the bikes on the back ..

Thanks that’s interesting. I knew the Crafter was narrower but wasn’t sure about the Sprinter. I don’t think narrower would be great either.

I know its not a panel van conversion but take a good look at a Rapido 9048. The lounge is absolutly massive, I just could not go smaller now we are used to it. Brilliant layout and the long seat is the most comfy bed I've slept in.

Always worth knowing whats out there as options just in case :giggle:
We were not planning a change when the Revolution became available
Had a look at the new Westfalia James Cook earlier thought the slide out rear was clever
Never going to be in a position to afford one anyway and I carry the bikes inside in the Revolution so would be a bit of a backward step

Garfields interested in how you carry bikes ... do you keep them in at night? Is the bed multi-height or do you sleep close to the ceiling in upper bed position? Do you have enough room for all your other stuff - tables chairs bbq water stuff etc etc as well as the bikes?

Hi

We sometimes have the bikes inside depending where we are or if we want to make a fast start in the morning
I made a rack for them so they can sit with the front wheels off if we are doing to be sleeping with them inside
The bed only then needs to be about six inches higher than normal
Only time I struggle for space is if we have the bikes and the inflatable canoe as the canoe is bulky, plenty room for chairs etc
I do have a rear door bike rack but prefer not to use it. It was on the van when we purchased it
Payload gets tight if we have all the toys and full water tanks etc
We are in the Borders if you wanted to look at a Revolution pm me

We have folding electric bikes and keep them under the bed. We can leave them set up withy handlebars and seat dropped and still have the bed at the bottom

If your budget will stretch, have a look at the Carthago Compactline range, they are only 2.12m wide and a garage, some models have twin single beds.

Again, not a pvc, but worth taking a look at as an alternative, is the adria compact dl. It’s 2.12m wide so although a bit wider than a pvc it’s a lot narrower than most coachbuilts. Twin singles (or one massive king size bed), a decent lounge area, for a van with fixed beds, and a garage under the beds to store your bikes in. It’s 7m long but if you add the length of our current van (6.36m) and the tow bar bike rack it comes out at similar, if not shorter length overall. It’s a bit taller too, and with square sides as opposed to a pvc sloping sides, helps with the feeling of space.
I know you’ve said van conversion but thought it might be something to consider if you hadn’t seen them. We’ll probably go for something like it when we’re able to do longer term touring.

Minxy Girl , we are talking about 2-3,years hence but I like to aspire 😂. Can you fit bikes plus rest of clobber into the garage or are their also lockers between the 2 floors?

We’ve gone for the Adria Compact dl automatic due to pick up September. It’s slightly bigger than a the Adria pvc but should suit us better we hope. Hopefully we will be able to reach out of the way places and many POI Such as N/T and Lake District and Scotland. We shall see. MIck 🤔

Load and loads of storage space as they have a double floor ... we have an extensive inventory list otherwise we'd forget where stuff had been put! :giggle: The garage is big anyway so plenty of room in that too.

Be careful with the Sprinters. Lovely to drive but very short on payload.
