As a it of fun what's the max range you've achieved I managed 692 today. Filled up with fuel just before the French border near the Somport tunnel and downhill all the way into Pau ?

If that's on the normal Fiat Ducato 60 ltr tank then that's well impressive. Seems to good, Is that miles or Kilometers

Our 2016 Ducato fuel tank capacity is 90 litres.

They did an option of 120 litre tank but alas that's not fitted to mine. (y)

Standard Ducato tank is 90 Lt, long range is 120 Lt.
60 Lt only appears to be fitted to some Brit vans when they are struggling for payload.

I don't know the range of our van but with a 150 engine it averages 31mpg, I'm not disappointed.

I always thought that the range value was what you can get with what is left in the tank as an estimate, rather than what you have just achieved. However, it probably comes down to the same thing as the computer must estimate the range left in tank based on what it has learnt from your driving style.

It's a 90 ltr tank and it was just after I filled up and it was telling me how far I could achieve at that moment in time, like I said it's just a bit of fun, it didn't last as soon as I started going up hill it dropped dramatically ?

No idea on the max range, never bothered to check it, but the computer tells me I am getting around 27 mpg.

We've got the 150bhp Fiat Engine,,, fantastic beast, pulls like a Puppy onna Leash. Its pulled us over 22,000 miles, seen the Sights of Europe that would've been beyond our wildest dreams. Not once have I ever bothered to check the mpg, (someone on here claimed 49.5mpg?!) (it was the .5 that got me?!).
Anyway,,, one of my greatest (and most childest) joys are the long downhill sections,,, whatever I'm driving I always flick into neutral at every opportunity (mostly to take the load off the drivetrain, but it does help to save gas too) but long downhill dual carriageway sections enable Moho to overtake the Juggernauts while spinning at 700rpm,,, DEEPLY satisfying!!! ?☺️?☺️

Rite,,, I'll just sit back and await the incoming flack...

Previous van, a Citroen Relay 100hp would get me just over 800 miles before the warning light came on which always surprised me (in a nice way). Current van, Fiat 130hp Euro6 gets nowhere near that :-)

If I am not mistaken most modern engines use no fuel at all on overrun. Flicking into neutral uses more fuel not less.

Really???!
Well, Borr,,,
I go to the foot of my stairs,,,
I'd never hav known that,,, your information does somewhat lag behind 37,778 similar posts re "diesel engines, fuel consumption" on t'net,
but I greatly appreciate your input...

Havta say though Borr that yew missed the "thrust" of my post,,,
which was nothing to du with diesel, or fuel mpg,,,
It was about having fun,,,

Knock it into neutral Borr,,, led'it Roll,,,

We Knew that. (y) As the "Aberdeen Overdrive". So 38t on a down grade in Neutral? (y) Beats the "limiter" every time!

The Laika.s and Mobilvettas are apparantly fiited with the 60ltr tank it was only in the small print of options that there is the chance of having a 90ltr tank fitted. So was a bit worried about travelling across France and Spain last year on the distances to cover between stops. Mainly because the yellow jackets had started acting up again, hoever we found out as long as we stuck to the new and variable speed limits we were covering the same distance as before be it with less fuel in the tank before fillup,ie approx 22 ltrs left on the 90 ltr tank and 15ltrs left on the 60 ltr tank so in effect still a 1/4 tank left. As we found with our 1st van the economy got better with age and milage.

Lots of trucks came to grief in the old days of crash boxes and drum brakes when you couldn't slow the beast down enough to get it back into stick.......not good practice.......have you seen the signs on many roads in Europe about engine braking.

Have fun  .......hopefully you won't take anybody else with you.

Eeeerrrrrm,,, now let me see,,, ,,,
A 12% descent, over 5 kilometres,,, hardly uncommon,,,
Wot gear yew gonna keep in Borr and pray tell me wot the braking coefficient is,,,
I'll save ya the trouble Borr,,,
yew mite as well tie a length of rope round the fecking wardrobe and hurl it out t'back as a fecking anchor!
Stopping power of wardrobe = ZERO!
Stopping power of gearbox = ZERO!
...... well,,, not much! ????

I started driving "lorries" as a 17 year old in a Quarry, owned by a relative, at weekends, to supplement my meagre apprentice wages. Some of the grades where, Steeeeeeeep, and if you lost it, you where over the edge!!. So you quickly learned the principles of driving using the gears. The lorries being mostly Ex WD with tipper bodies added, had crash boxes, so changing down was a “double clutch” exercise. Later when on leave doing engineering exams, I did some work for a Local Coal Merchant, (topping up funds again to pay for the exam fee`s). His lorries where Thames 4D`s, 3 speed crash box and brakes? What brakes?. So engine braking was an essential part of daily driving.

Fast forward 30plus years. And needing the LGV for the R-V. I was told by the DVLA, that my entitlement was expired because of a change of ruling whilst I was still in the M N, I had lost it, apparently to keep it I had needed to have a medical?.!.

So, I went and did the course, and passed first time. During the “training” phase I was regularly being told off for using the gears when braking, the “modern” way is to use the brakes, and then only select your low gear to start off!. Matching the speed to the gear is now frowned on!.

As previously stated I select neutral at every opportunity, and I do mean at EVERY opportunity. Driving around my local villagers in Norfolk answering calls for Electrical and plumbing problems I became expert at judging my freewheel speed up to a junction, roundabout etc.
No doubt the purists and the examiners out there will tuttut and shake their collective heads but one fact holds sway over every opinion,,,
brakes are cheaper to replace than clutches, gearboxes and the like.

I didn't use neutral on my motorbikes though,,, only at standstill. ?☺️

Basically you are putting your hand up to being a bad driver, many reasons why you shouldnt freewheel, lack of control, slow reaction speed, no ability to accelerate, increased chance of fishtailing etc.
Last car did 200,000 on original clutch and gearbox before I got rid of car, no cost, replaced brake pads and discs and tyres many times.
Also whats this bor/bumpkin rubbish?

You're absolutely spot on,,, I've acquired dreadful driving habits,,, had'em fifty five years but thas no excuse Borr.
I'll use my current confinement to address my slack approach behind the wheel.
Possibly. ????

Will you give us your word that you will surrender your driving licence forth with BORR?

I have filled mine up and seen over 1100 miles range on the display. I have the 120litre tank

Based on 25mpg that makes my tank 90 litres. It's full and parked sulking on the drive;)
