12 volt only seems to be working when engine switched off. Van is a Dethleffs Advantage with electrobloc 101.
Will it be a fuse and if so does anyone know where it is.

lesleyjean The titile and the first sentence of your post are at odds with one another.

Assuming that you mean that the 12v is not working when the engine is on, that is quite normal with a lot of vans partucularly british made ones.

12v for the habitat area is disabled on our MH when there’s a key in the ignition (probably with the key rotated one position too but need to verify)

caught us out on the handover...

i have a sunlight( Dethleffs) and the 12volt works wether the engine is running or not as long as you have the 12 volt is switched on at the panel

Sorted now thanks everyone. It was a big 40 amp fuse by the battery.

Worry thing is why did it blow?
I know why it blew. It was because I had the kettle on and the sandwich maker on at the same time and it was just too much. I got it the wrong way around. 12 volt would only work when the engine was running.
All sorted now, just so glad I bought some big fuses off eBay. Sitting at the ferry port now.

Are the sandwich maker and kettle running from an inverter?

Lesley & Alan I don’t wish to tell you how to suck eggs, but regular use of a mains operated kettle and sandwich maker via an inverter will doubtless send your batteries to an early grave IMO - just saying.

Yes, got a 1500 watt inverter.
In that case the inverter is wired incorrectly.
It should be wired fired to the battery via its own fuse and isolating switch.

Why on earth would you use a kettle & sandwich maker from the inverter, sure way of killing your batteries. What's wrong with gas.

Got me worried now. We thought the gas had run out because the cooker went off, so we put the electric kettle on. Was only going to use the sandwich maker. After we fitted the fuse, the gas worked so. I am not used to all this yet. Still learning.
Something could be wired wrong as the same people fitted the solar panel and you seen the mess they made of that.
Hopefully I will get my head around this soon.

Hi Ken

Still learning with all this new technology and I am a slow learner.
