return ferry booked Portsmouth to St Malo , then 12 days without itinerary,
Never been to Brittany , we love coast and inland areas , keen cyclists , keen wine drinkers and foodies .
Any suggestions for must does ?

I think we have completely different tastes but we were very impressed with the submarine pens at St Nazair and the massive chateaux in Brittany

Love Brittany but in October can be wet & cold be prepared to head south.
We were kind of basing our destination on that of late October in the UK has been mild and dry so maybe Brittany maybe following the same trend ?

We can't get over until October, bloody airbag light, fixed it but can't get an MOT until the end of next week
So we will be heading south, don't do cold these days.

Il de Ré if you like seafood, especially oysters, there are several growers on the island and the local wine is quite nice as well, Le Royal blanc.

You'll be at the start of the scallop season which runs from Oct 1st to May 15th. Mmm....my favourite after crab.
I often miss out as I'm not generally over there in that period.

We will be there 10 Oct - 26, will look out for you!. Also going from Portsmouth but to Cherbourg.

Well we decided to go a little further south ,……………………………..Malta !, can’t wait for the airport nightmare 😱

Read Death in Brittany by Jean Luc Bannalec. Great read. Commissar Dupin, the hero inspector is based in Concarneau and eats and drinks at the Amiral Hotel. This restaurant is real and does an excellent meal based on the likes of the Commissar. If you fancy something else they also have a Maigret menu, as he also ate there (in the books) many years ago.

It's actually the Chateau de Chambord with the double helix staircase I was referring to

We live in Port Louis, there's a nice aire at Locmarlo (about 700mtrs from our house) 12 Euros including leccy. Looks out over the Petite Mer de Gâvres .

We rocked up at that camping car park just an hour ago
