Hi.
I have a cheapy MPPT controller rated for 30A.
I also have "Branded" Sunsaver-6 controller.
(Weighs double the Chinese cheap controller). SS-6-12V.

The Sunsaver-6 says
"solar in 6.5A and Load 10.0A"
Am I right or wrong to assume that it will not cope with two 90watt panels connected in Parallel?

Here is the blurb on the back of the panel.

The most that two 90W panels will output (70% of 180/17.87) is 7 amps, which is slightly above the 6.5A input spec. That input would in theory give an output of 10.5A, but the controller will limit it to the output spec of 10A.

On the rare occasions that this would possibly happen, the controller will simply waste the excess power, with no damage to anything - panels, controller or batteries. So I'd say it's fine to use it.

Many thanks for the info.
I have a feeling the branded PWM controller will outperform the cheap MPPT controller so I may switch them over.
