Hi all

We are setting off to Germany shortly and wondered if the channel tunnel is allowing motorhomes to stay overnight in the car park before departure? Last time we turned up at 10pm after a long drive to be told we couldn't be there more than 2 hours before departure (we had a 5am train booked) because they were doing work in the car park and half of it was closed. We ended up driving in the pouring rain to some layby on the back roads to Canterbury! Next morning when we drove back in we saw lots of barriers and construction work going on in the waiting area and the parking had been massively reduced. This would have been a year or so ago.

Alternatively if we decided to book a ferry from Dover where do folk park overnight these days? I understand that some of the usual places are no longer available.

Ta in advance for any heads up.

Capel Battery campsite New Dover Rd, Capel-le-Ferne, Folkestone CT18 7JJ. Very near tunnel. Not much more than a place to park with water and electric but OK for one night. Parked there 2 weeks ago prior to Le Shuttle crossing. Pub within walking distance.

When I’ve arrived early; +6hrs, I’ve stayed the night a couple of times both the UK and French side with no issues (y)

Hi Cliff
Leave the M20 at J11 take 1st exit onto Stone St and follow along and up the windy hill to Farthing Common, a popular spot for Motorhomes and free. When you are ready go back to the M20 and onto J11a which is Eurotunnel entrance. Or you could drop down into Hythe as many Motorhomes use the one way loop by Sainsbury’s
Have a good trip

As a few others have said Dover Rd P&R Canterbury is ideal. It's only around 30 minutes drive to the tunnel, and has grey and black water disposal and fresh water too.
You ticket also lets you use the park and ride into Canterbury too if you have time for a look around. There is also a pub virtually on site if you don't fancy going into Canterbury for a beer etc
