Hi,
I also need 4 new ones and was looking on t'internet today, choice between Continental or Michelin, but need to replace them soon as the recent service flagged them as poor.
Many thanks for your post

I had a new tyre from Etyres and service was good.
The valve was rubber not steel, but I was assured it was ok.
Any reason why I should have insisted on a steel valve?
steel valves are recommended for pressures of above 50 psi as i understand it

at 5,5 bar it could potentially blow out of the valve stem hole. ALWAYS insist on steel valves on high pressure tyres, particularly on a heavy vehicle
My mate in the tyre business reckons they had an incident where an apprentice tyre fitter put the wrong valve in and it failed just before reaching 5.5bar. the sound was as he said like a bomb going off. imagine that happening at motorway speed on a hot tyre
