Horrex door fly screen

Hi all.

We’ve had a bit of a mishap with the habitation door fly screen ie: the door was closed while the screen was half open resulting in both the top and bottom breaking!

Now, at this point, I’m not going to point any fingers as to who did this, but, as there’s only myself and the other half, it wasn’t me!!

Our van is a Bailey Approach se 745 2013.
I’ve sourced and bought a new unit, but am stumped on removing the old one.
I’ve undone the 4 screws top and bottom holding it in place and the unit slides up and down, but I can’t seem to get any further that that!

Has anyone had to remove the fly screen at all or could anyone give me some pointers please?

I’ve tried a search in the threads, but can’t find anything.

I have read that but I couldn’t see anything in it about removing it from the slider clips.

I did see that and had a look. Was a bit wary as it wasn’t for a Horrex so didn’t try forcing it too hard just in case!!
I’ve got bragging rights at the moment and don’t want to lose them too quickly by causing damage to the door

I’ll give that another go though

So I’m guessing the best cutlery isn’t the best way to go

Jen recently renewed the mesh in ours, it is held in with a thin rubber tube. She cut the mesh slightly bigger than the aperture and fed the rubber in with a blunt knife. The screws in the corners need to be undone then tightened up again on the tube to hold it. Then she trimmed the mesh to fit neatly.

ps we had the mesh "in stock" must have been bought years ago! So cost nowt!

Further update. I got one of the old kitchen knives out and tried shoving it between the fly screen frame and the van where the clips are.
After much trepidation and ‘shall I be brave and try a bit harder’ and ‘am I going to be losing my bragging rights!’ thoughts, I bit the bullet and applied a bit more pressure on the knife.
Hey presto, the frame moved and, with a bit more pressure, it came away from the clip.

So, in essence, undo the two screws at the top of the unit, and the two at the bottom. (Although in our case, when I took the caps off the bottom screws, I didn’t need to unscrew them, just pushed them out from underneath!!)
Get an old kitchen knife, locate where the clips are on each side and insert the knife between the frame and van. Prise the frame away from the van and it will come away from the clip.
I think there are two clips on each side.

As I’m currently away, I put it all back together until I’m back and have the new unit and will try it all again!
