Well I couldn’t get it in to the van needed a flat bed truck.
And it just so happens that my friend across the road has one

So they just cut the roof off of the van?
Presumably scrapped it?
At least you know it will fit, and you can look at the remainder when you detach it to know where to cut yours.

It will need a bit of modification with a cutting disc not much about 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch in places
Just a remove rubber seal cut of a bit then put new rubber seal the most important part is getting a hole template from the old roof for the hatch and bolts
I don’t think it going to be a simple job
And I have never done anything like it.
The nearest I have been was putting a small sun roof in a car 30+ years ago.
Bit of head scratching to come I think

Having a few sleepless nights thinking about cutting a grate big hole in the roof of my van.
Its been a logistical nightmare getting the roof from Liverpool.
But it sorted now set off tomorrow with a flat bed pick up.
I didn’t want to separate the roof from the bongo roof.
Till I get home so I can make a template from the original roof out of plywood.
and preserve the original wiring loom a will save me heaving to make another one.
The window blinds from the bongo are electric hopefully I can utilise those on the build.
Going to try and make the roof opening with a remote controlled bit ambitious I know.
I am hoping for good weather end of this week next weekend to get the van wind and wether proof.
With the penthouse going on we can free up living space in the van

I just fitted a used pop top to a Vw t6 that I bought. Bought the roof, rock and roll bed and interior furniture from a vw campervan breakers in Evesham called Transporter Heaven. They cut the roof off the van and I collected it all in a hired lwb van. It took me two days to separate the pop top from the old roof. I transferred the measurements from the old roof to the new one, and after checking and double checking, cut the opening in my van using good quality jig saw blades. It was a perfect fit and even better than the original!

What a day I had with this getting it off now the next bit getting the holes in the correct place to fit it
Not having that big a hole only a small hatch
The electrical stuf is completely baffling me but
Will work my way through it
It a very heavy bit of kit but with luck it will be on the van tomorrow

Hopefully this should work marked out the holes on masking tape it corresponds with the marks I put on the roof from measuring this morning measured again and it all ties in.
So now remove the roof lining in the van
The bit at the back is whare a skylight would be but I have to cut the hatch up front
I have the floor from the pop up and will be covering the roof in 1in king span 25 mm for the converted.

so I have ordered some diodes from the internet as ther is only a +- wires I have a two way switch ther is two live feeds in and out that’s fine the up works but the down won’t as the live feed goes directly to negative.
so to isolate the battery when the negative has to be on live to operate the down I am going to put in a diode.
That way ther will be no dead short back to battery I hope.
As a diode is like a one way valve
And the roof should operate
Happy to be told I am wrong as I don’t know to be hones

You are lucky as mine was caked on with Sikaflex!
I am not sure if I am on the right track here. But if it is to control a motor in two directions by swapping the voltage polarity.
Then look at either an H Bridge. OR get a double pole 3 way switch with a center zero, and a momentary action in each direction.
You can the wire a cross shape connection to switch the direction.
If I am on the wrong thing then ignore me. if you need more details give me a shout.
Like this one. But not this one as is it frequently returned.
Just need to makes sure it is DC rated and the current rating is up to the job.

Sorry Bill. I am on a job right now. I can look for one later this evening for you. BUT I need to know. It is 12V? how many amps does it need to support?

And the current draw is less than 20A @ 12V DC.
Then this switch should do it.
I have not bought this myself so cannot give a personal recommendation. But if I was buying for a similar job this is the one I would go for myself.
They even include the wiring diagram for 2 way motors (like an H bridge)

No switch it’s gone I have a roller shutter door switch
Going to try that when the rains stop
The electric is two wits to run the motor + -
Just need if that doesn’t work I will look at getting the switch you have posted

Ok tomorrow whether permitted I will be mounting the lump on the roof.
Mobilised my boys to be her a 10.00 sharp
Have conscripted two of the boys from next door.
And hopefully commandeering a forklift
Once it it on the hinges I will play it by ear where I go from thare
But will have to get a trestle or Sumthing to keep it open and secure so I can work on the completion of the task safely.

So excited the wife forgot to tell me some bits came for the van
The only thing is the pump only supplies 6 ltr per minute
That just over a gallon a minute will that work for showering
And give enough pressure
Might go get the spare pump from the boat I forgot about

I think you will find it's got too much pressure and not enough volume, might blow your connections.

Not good enough for shower and very un reliable/ short lived speaking from personal experience of 2 I fitted to small bore drinking water taps both failed to self stop completely I fitted external on/off switches,. Definitely not enough flow for a shower

Sure flow will work have sparred in the boat

The small pump will do for the filtered drinking water
